I should have asked in this thread rather than starting a new one... but basically does anyone know if the nexus 5 plays 24-bit audio?

Also is there any way to assign different ringtones to different contacts? Again, in Samsung you just long press contact and menu pops up, and you can do such a things.
Thank you.

Go into the People app and select a contact. Look at the top right and you'll see three dots next to a star. Tap on the three dots to open the menu and assign ringtone is one of the options.

Regarding the square register/card reader. LG phones notoriously don't work with the card reader, if anyone has the n5 and the square reader could you let me know if it swipes cards? thanks!

I'm finding that my Google Now isn't working on launching certain apps such as Facebook and Instagram but it works on Gmail, ESPN Scorecenter. Anyone else having this issue? Weird...

Can you expand on that? What are you expecting gnow to do that it isn't?

Facebook doesn't seem to open.

I can say "OK Google" "Launch Facebook" and Google Now will say "Opening App" but it doesn't.

Others I tried worked - Twitter, BBC iPlayer, Netflix, eBay....

I'm not sure why you would want to open an app this way though, it takes ages!

I am noticing that the audio quality with an aux cable is not as rich as from an iPhone. I recently migrated and I love the N5 for a lot of reasons, but when it comes to listening to music in my car, I still find myself going for my iPh.
I am not noticing any distortion or sound artifacts, just a little more muffled and toned down.

Also people are reporting that voice during calls has more echo. They are able to hear and understand, but to them it just sounds like I am talking from an empty room.

Is this just my device or has this been observed?

thanks,
Spy

Dose anyone know if the Nexus 5 has a notification pull down menu to turn
on/off data, bluetooth, and adjust brightness ?

Can anyone confirm this

If you swipe down with one finger, all you get are notifications and a button to swap to power toggles. If you swipe down with 2 fingers, you go right to power toggles which give you shortcuts/toggles for brightness, settings, wifi, data, battery, airplane mode, bluetooth, and location settings.

What is it when screen has a blue outline?
How did it get there?
How to rid of it?

It zooms in the screen when tapped 3X

Tap again and it goes away.

I used to have this issue though a reboot seemed to fix it... I wouldnt put any faith in the reboot though, as it may have just been a fluke for such a simple fix :o

Hi there,

I have a question regarding the Google Nexus 5...

It's currently unavailable in Indonesia and so I am considering purchasing it from the Australian Google Play Store.

My question is - If I buy the phone in Australia (direct from the Google Play Store...) will it work at home in Indonesia on the Telkomsel network.

I look forward to a reply from anyone who can help me on this.

Thanks and kind regards,

Nick

Well the phone is unlocked and not region specific; so as long as Telkomsel has the supported bands for the N5; it should work. If you know what bands Telkomsel uses that'd help, but I'd wager a fair bit that Telkomsel works with atleast some of the following bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply.

I understand Telksomsel operates on the following frequency - Operates on dual band GSM 900 & 1800 MHz frequencies in Indonesia.

I have also found out the following: -

TELKOMSEL Details
TELKOMSEL is one of the 7 cellular networks in Indonesia. TELKOMSEL is owned and operated by PT Telekomunikasi Selular

TELKOMSEL has an average 3G download speed of 1.7 Mb/s, which is worse than the global average of 1.8 Mb/s.

TELKOMSEL uses the GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / UMTS 2100/apn free arutmin frequency bands for its network.

With that information in mind, could you advise whether the Nexus 5 will work on Telkomsel in Indonesia?

Thanks!
