Got my White N5 today.
Its very very nice. I like I a lot better then the Black.

Is there anyway to shrink the Icons???? UHGGG they are pretty big.

I used the gps last night. Set the destination from inside my house, then it took me to where I wanted to go.
My biggest concern is battery. I'm a moderate to heavy user depending on the day. Yesterday, I had to charge the battery twice. I hope I can find settings that helps keep the battery from draining so fast. Granted, my old phone's battery was just as bad, but I was hoping for better.

Q1) Is it possible to silence the notifications from certain apps (Gmail, Twitter, Facebook) only? I don't want to silence all notifications as that would include SMS messages.
Q2) Is it possible to lock the screen orientation? The Nexus 7 lets you do this from the pull-down menu, I don't know why this would be omitted from the Nexus 5.

1 is dependent on the notification settings of that app. For each app you described, there's an option to choose your ringtone in its settings. If you choose none, it won't alert you.

How to activate GPS in this phone? I'm coming from Samsung, and I could activate or deactivate GPS as I go. Does nexus 5 has such an option, or is it always on? Also is there any way to assign different ringtones to different contacts? Again, in Samsung you just long press contact and menu pops up, and you can do such a things.

Q1) I've updated the settings for Gmail and FB, but Twitter isn't playing ball. There's no setting I can see to select a ringtone or disable the vibrate, only a "Sound effects" checkbox which I had already unchecked, but I'm still hearing a "ding" for every tweet I receive.
Q2) Thanks, so how do I proceed to do this? Ideally it would work like the Nexus 7 i.e. I could lock the phone in its current orientation, whether that's portrait or landscape, and subsequently unlock.

To lock the screen orientation, two finger swipe down from the top, then press settings. Click display, then uncheck auto rotate screen. I haven't found a shortcut yet.

Thanks - appreciate the tip. I was aware of that setting but it's not the same as the Nexus 7 setting and definitely inferior. By unchecking this box, it locks the device in portrait mode. What if I want it locked in landscape mode instead?
Widgetsoid people. Almost any shorcut control you want at the top of the Notification screen (or as a widget). Mine doesn't have rotate lock, but it is an option.
Oh, and AirPlane mode doesn't work since Google changed the security permissions, but I leave it there in hope.
One question about Google Now on the N5. I've accidentally swiped-away some things I would like to see. Stock quotes for example. I accidentally swiped them away because I forgot I didn't have another screen to the left of my Google Now. All of my individual stocks as well as the stocks card in general as listed as "YES" in the YES or NO settings on whether I want to see updates on my stocks but the card has never reappeared since I did that yesterday.
I like Google Now a lot in general, but a few things like that are tricky since you don't necessarily tell it exactly what you want to see NOW, rather you tell it YES or NO on whether you want to see those cards period and then Google Now seems to kind of choose when they show you stuff. I like the concept, but maybe I'm missing something with the stocks. I thought maybe they would appear at the opening bell today once they had activity. That would have been nice (to have them show from open to close bells and then disappear after that).

I did the same accidental swipe-away for my local weather cards in Google Now. It was 8-12 hours before they showed up again after I changed them back to YES. I don't know how Google Now decides when it's time to display them again.

Does anyone know how to get the SMS's to the computer? the MightyText app doesn't seem to work with hangouts
Never mind, yes it does.
Nope, it doesn't. It sets up, and you can see the texts on the computer, but you can't respond. So question stands. Is there a way to both see and REPLY to texts on the computer with hangouts?
FYI - From MightyText email to me:
Try a launcher such as Nova, they usually let you change the grid size (how many icons per screen) and icon size.

High accuracy = gps on
Battery savings = GPS off
