Activation question..

Hey everyone, sorry if this has been asked before, I tried a search and no luck.

I currently on AT&T, my contract ends in February and I'm looking to switch over to Metro. I know some companies have some good deals on Black Friday or around Christmas, (I'm looking into the Galaxy S3) would I be able to purchase a phone and wait a few months to have it activated, or does it have to be activated when purchased?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I believe you can purchase a phone online (either from Metro or another online store) and not activate it right away.

online store probably, walmart or another big door store, you can buy without activating, independent dealers are not supposed to sell metro branded phones without activating them first.

You can buy it from almost anywhere except Metro Stores then when you feel ready to activate just buy the SIM card from Metro.

Okay thanks. I wasn't sure because the phones I seen at some stores just say for AT&T, Sprint, etc so I wasnt sure if I had to get it from Metro itself. I dont much when it comes to all that, Im just used to getting a phone for free for renewing my contract, but Im sick of AT&T and don't care for my iPhone anymore.
