galaxy s3 dictionary wiped and won't store new words

Hi, can anyone help with this

After the recent software update on my galaxy s3 my personal dictionary words were wiped. I didn't think it was much of a problem at first as I've always just written and used a word once in a text message and it has always automatically saved.
However, it seems that has also stopped. The phone will no longer save any new words and the personal dictionary option under 'keyboard and input' is no longer there at all
I've tried lots of tips for saving words that I've read on different forums but nothing has worked. At my wits end trying to figure it out.

not sure if this is too late but here goes:

I have a Galaxy S3 I was having the same problem after an update. I had tried everything that other posts have told me to do but nothing worked until i tried this:

go to settings: -> my device: -> language and input: -> click the setting icon on samsung keyboard: -> click on predictive text: -> under the personalisation catagory there should be a few options to learn from facebook, gmail, twitter, messages etc. i clicked on them all and enabled them(think the main one here is the messages bit though, so make sure thats definately enabled if you dont use some of the other accounts).

What an absolute superstar you are! I've been using the android keyboard since that post (which is actually better! Try it, you can download from play store for free).
I can't believe its that simple. I think the problem is that on the predictive header it has an on/off switch and I had no idea there were other headings if you pressed the title.
They don't make it clear, do they. Talk about needle in a haystack!

Glad it worked! it had been doing my head in for months and I just had to post it becasue the answer just isnt anywhere!

I know what you mean about the heading though, I really only found it through frustration after slamming my thumb down on the screen ha.

Ill give that android one a try!

This advice also worked on my Galaxy S2 running 4.1.2.

In my opinion, the devs responsible for this should be required to sit through UX training. Users see this as a feature being 'hidden in plain sight'. It runs counter to all principles of a UI being intuitive to use, and frustration levels go up exponentially.
This is the kind of thing that loses a brand it's customers.
 
I completely agree. As much as it's always impressive to see the advancements in technology, it is a fatal error to not ensure the fundamentals of calling and texting are priority for ease of use.
I love the galaxy range but this particular issue has made me look elsewhere for an upgrade

I had this problem too.
I deleted the personalisation data and relearned it. It seems to have fixed the problem.
I hope that this helps.
