Root [Verizon] When will the i535 VZW model get some ROM love?

almost all the good ROMs out there, especially the KitKat ones, seem to all be for the GT-i9300. hardly any exist for the i535. is there a reason this model is the least popular one?

there are a few G+ groups specializing in unofficial KitKat S3 ROMs but all of them are for the i9300. none of them support the i535 model. makes me a bit irked.

and most of the ROMs for the i535 are still 4.0 based. there was only one 4.2.2 ROM when i flashed mine, CarbonROM. tons of TouchWiz ROMs but i flash to get rid of that.

There are defenetly some kitkat ROMs for the i535. Check out xda (I'm on mobile or I would post links) there's cm11 there...

CM11 from what i read won't flash with TWRP. i don't know how to change the recovery but i prefer TWRP over CWM

Are all the CM11 based ROMs 4.4? i thought some were still in 4.3?

they all seem to be for the uber popular GT-i9300 (not sure why that model is the most popular thing on the planet) but not the i535. there is a CM 11 but not sure if it's compatible with the i535 and since my phone has TWRP, it is said to not be compatible with that recovery. are there any ROMs out there using 4.4 for the GSIII i535? will they come out?

It's easy enough to switch over to CWM. I had to go it on my Gnex to flash KitKat. Wondering if 4.4 is just causing problems for TWRP in general.

Hey not to go off topic (it sorts goes along with what you said) but I need to update my cwm and I always on my other devices uses flashimage GUI bit it said it wasn't comparable with the s3. Is there a easy way (app to do it) or do I have to use terminal (I think the command is something like flash recovery [your-recovery.ing] or something like that. I can look it up when ivgo to do it) to flash it?

Never used it on my S3, but does ROM Manager work with it? I know it causes havoc with some Samsung devices.
(this is how I flashed it on my Gnex over TWRP, but that's a whole different beast)

it will (at least it seems like it will) but the problem with rom manager is you can only flash the non cwm touch unless you pay like $2 per cwm update or pay $6 for the app. i bought a touch recovery for my n7 because it was easier and later i had to flash back to stock (i think for an update) and RM wanted me to pay AGAIN for the recovery (same version) that i just bought :( i emailed the dev like 3 times and got no response. kinda hesitant to give that kind of money ($6 is alot for a phone app) to a dev that doesnt seem to want to support his app.

I'm running a CM 11 KitKat build as we speak. I've been working on it for about a week now. Will upload as soon as I think it's ready.

let us know when it is, i'm really wanting to try something new. CarbonROM's only i535 version was/is in beta with no update in sight, and it's literally dying on my S3 as i speak. phone has been getting worse and worse the last three weeks. Bluetooth died a week ago. it turns on and pairs with my car audio but all the music comes from the top microphone and not out the car speakers. now it tends to reboot itself or freeze often. i know it needs a factory reset but i'd rather flash something nicer first.

You are just early in posting. Cm is stable on this phone... But u can only get unofficial builds ATM... also. From what I understand slim team is close to at least alpha builds... Most of the "kang" style roms won't come until cm,slim, aokp, etc become stable first

not even the unofficials show any 4.4-based ROMs on my S3. GooManager only has one that is in 4.2.2, and that's the version of Carbon i'm already running. the rest are 4.1, 4.0 and such. all the G+ pages seem to favor the GT-i9300, not the SGH-i535 D2VZW model with the VBRMF1 firmware. all the ROMs for it are like 1/3 of what's available for the beloved i9300 that gets all the support. i don't get it. if you have a VZW LTE GS3 you're screwed. I'm chatting with a few devs and friends on G+ pages about it but the outlook ain't too hopeful for the black sheep of Samsung's GS3 family, the i535. everyone loves the i9300 more, and those ROMs won't work on the i535.

Proof enough??

Been running this for almost 2 weeks now. It's almost were I want it at to release it to everyone.

i found a version online somewhere that a friend linked to on G+. not sure if it's the same one you got but it is based on CM 11, comes with the Google Home launcher, and ART is just amazing. about time they got rid of Dalvik once and for all.
