Xbox 1 vs PS4: Which would you choose?

Honestly I think you'd be happy with either but the PS4 gets it for me. I've always preferred the exclusives Sony offer from Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch and Santa Monica, just to name a few.

i don't think PC was one of the options.

Xbox One for me. I got it on Friday. The dashboard alone makes it a clear winner. Throw in the fact that TitanFall isn't coming to the PS4 and you shouldn't need to look any further...but if you want to there is the NFL Network exclusives with Xbox, the fitness exclusives with Xbox, CoD maps always come to Xbox a month before Sony, Xbox is going to take advantage of the cloud gaming and the 300k servers they added for it. ...oh and then the dedicated servers for CoD Ghosts this time around which i think is an Xbox Exclusive also.

I honestly don't care for Titan Fall and for me personally, I don't like the Xbox Dashboard much. As for COD? Don't like it. :)
COD Ghosts isn't an exclusive.
If I had to pick a console than PS4.

I got the Xbox one on day one.

I prefer it to the sony ui.

I had a ps3 and returned it within a month because DLCs weren't coming to it anytime soon for skyrim when i got it and xbox 360 had already had them.

if sony didn't go into the pay2play feature I may have gone with them. but for the $20 more I know that the xbox won't be easily as hacked and the online network down like the ps3 was for quite some time.

The game on ps4 are pretty great looking.
but realistically i just prefer the look and feel of the xbox more than the ps4.

I found out something interesting today. The Xbox One's TV feature is practically useless outside of America. The Xbox is designed to output in 60hz so when you try to use it with a European Pal 50hz TV the screen stutters. So if you plan on getting an Xbox mainly for the media capabilities and don't live in America I'd think twice.

I was just at a friend's of mine on Saturday.. he didn't make the decision, he just bought both..

One thing I found out is that xbox isn't ideal if you plan on watching blurays on it.. You have to install a bluray app for the xbox for it to play blurays.. and on his the fps playing the bluray was absolute trash, so we switched over to the ps4 and it played perfectly fine.

Just a note to add in to your decisions

I'm in no hurry to buy either one at the moment. But, I would get a PS4 before I bought a Xbox One. The PS4 has a lot more Indie stuff and more/better exclusives that I'd want to play. On Xbox, I don't watch live TV, so the big sell point doesn't appeal to me. Nor do I keep up with sports, or play fantasy sports, or want to talk to my console.

Not surprising considering Sony helped create the blu-ray format.

they will probably do an update on the app to correct that issue.
but I watch bluray movies on my surround sound and will probably stick to that and use the x1 to play games. :)

I'll get the PS4 eventually, but I'm not in any hurry. Launch games are always underwhelming and I still have a lot of PS3 games to play. I didn't realize how much smaller the PS4 is than the Xbox One, and the Xbox still has a huge power brick. Weird. Even with the bigger cabinet and external power supply, they are saying the Xbox still runs hotter. That's surprising given all the problems they had with the 360. Anyway, this article has some side by side pics to compare the sizes.

Head-to-head: Everything you need to know in the PS4 vs. Xbox One battle | Ars Technica

from the reviews.. I am getting the feeling..

PS4 is a gaming console.. that handles media consumption

XBox1 is a media center.. that happens to play games.

so depending on your real goal for this product in your life. if you want to play mostly games on it, and have other devices to get your media, then the PS4 might fit you better.

if you are an occasional gamer and but want more richer way of consuming your media, then the Xbox1 might better meet your needs.

If I were actually buying one, I would choose the Xbox 1.. After seeing the UI for both, the Xbox attracts me much more, also it works so well with windows.. The one thing I cannot stand about Xbox is xbox live.. the fact that you have to pay to play online.. that is why I like the PC the most

you have to pay to play online now with the ps4.

or did i read that wrong somewhere.

I think it is much cheaper as opposed to the $60 but I still can't forget sony being hacked and they customer information leaked.

I was looking at them side by side at Gamestop the other day, and the PS4 is a much better looking console just as far as the physical box. It looked like higher quality plastic where the Xbox One looked kind of cheap in comparison. Not that it makes a difference on which one anybody should buy.

It's $50/yr compared to $60/yr. Not a huge difference. Both are offering free games each month now; Xbox free games you own; PS Plus games you can play as long you're still subscribed.

I don't know man, my X1 doesn't look like cheap plastic, it is heavy as crud and kinda sleak. I do like the way the ps4 looks, and if more of my friends were on sony's network i would have gone the ps4 route, but most of my friends play xbox.

yeah I didn't know Killer Instinct was going to be free :)
i loved that game on SNES and now it is on X1!

Haven't had a chance to play it yet but there might be a reason it was free... haha.

If I want to game then I go with PS4 and if I want a media hub the XBox 1 but I am more interested in gaming. I dont want the all in one that does everything ok or good but give me one thing built to do 1 specific job and does it better.

Just my .02

Killer Instinct is different from I'm talking about. PS Plus, and Live Gold are giving users a couple of retail digital downloads free each month, that would normally cost money, as part of the service.

Killer Instinct is Microsoft's early attempt at a free-to-play, micro transaction game. Reviews seem promising. But, you only get a few fighters free, and have to buy the rest of them individually with real money.
