Latest Android 4.3 firmware releases, fix bugs

Looks like it's the turn of the branded Canadian S4 phones to get the updated Android 4.3 release from Samsung. All seem to be MK5 and MK6 firmware builds from 15th Nov:

Updates, so far, for...

Globalive Wind Mobile, Rogers, Koodo Mobile, Sasktel, Virgin, Fido Mobile, Bell, Telus, EastLink, Video Tron, Mobilicity.


Strictly speaking, these are not bug fix firmware releases as the Canadians never had the early, buggy, Android 4.3 firmware releases that have plagued the U.S. carrier branded S4's.


Check both OTA, (Over the Air), and with Kies for update.
 
T-Mobile's, SGH-M919, for the U.S. has just had a release for Android 4.3 with a build, MK2, dated 16th Nov:

Samsung do not issue changelogs of update details but the build date and number would indicate that this is a bug fix release.

How strange! Offering a patch instead of a full firmware update. Perhaps this is a holding measure by AT&T for all those who installed the defective Android 4.3, AT&T release, before it was withdrawn.

The details given by tparky, here, indicate that this now brings the firmware up to MK2 which is the T-Mobile release.

Hopefully there will be a full firmware release for those AT&T users who are still on Android 4.2.2.
 
Yes, there was a full 750 MB download for my brother's AT&T Galaxy S4 that was still on 4.2.2. I will be checking version details as soon as the boot is complete.

Hopefully, the other U.S. carriers will not be far behind.
 
Does anyone know if the mobile data quick button is still in the notification bar on 4.3 AAT&t version? Something I noticed on the note 3 at the store running 4.3. I'm updating now almost 730 mb
 
Really hate this update if I'm being honest. God awful wait for it. Knox and a host of other dumb apps that suck battery and flag shit. No more mobile data toggle in the bar. Personally turned off by Samsung on this update..
 
Its been 45 min. and I'm at 42%. I'm on my jobs wifi. This is my second time trying since the first time it was canceled when I got a phone call that I answered.

Just installed the MK2 "bug fix." All the things that the original 4.3 update broke are still broken:
  • Persistant notifications - 3 apps show notification icon even though they are turned off in the app and disabled in Settings > Manage apps (and these are the actual app icons, not the generic ones that Google shows to shame devs who don't follow notification standards). This didn't happen in 4.2 or 4.2.2, and doesn't happen in 4.4 with the same apps on another device.
  • Transistion Animation Scale bug - if you have this set to anything other than the default of 1.0, it resets to default after accessing the camera app. This didn't happen in 4.2 or 4.2.2, and doesn't happen in 4.4 with the same settings on another device.
  • FoxFi Pro no longer works (with either the original 4.3 or this "bug fix," but I expected this). Hopefully, the app devs will soon find a workaround, as they have with past Android updates.
I haven't had a chance to test bluetooth, but it's been flakey since the first 4.3 OTA. Both 4.3. OTAs disabled Juice Defender Ultimate, but it was easily resolved by restoring the in-app backup. MK2 did not reset my APN settings like the first OTA did, so that's a plus I guess. Overall, this latest update is a big net ZERO.
 
This is a pain. I was 1 hrs and 30 min into the update, with 35% left of the and the update just stopped. I didn't use my phone except to check to see the status of the update. (Phones been in standby mode, hooked up to charger and with over 2GB internal storage.) I restarted phone to see I'm still on 4.2.2. What gives?

I wonder if those who are getting the full MK2 firmware download will experience the same thing or if those on the full T-Mobile firmware, MK2 release, also get these problems. I must say, that I am not a big fan of firmware patches myself.

I guess that you have or will be doing a cache wipe in recovery mode to see if that helps. If not, as I see you are an experienced user, maybe a full AT&T, MK2, firmware download and install via Odin as per #1.5 of 18 Galaxy S4 models - know yours? may help, depending, of course, on reports from those who have installed the full MK2 versions.
 
I made what I consider to be a tremendous mistake upgrade to the latest version on my T-Mobile Galaxy S4. Not that I'm having any issues with the firmware, just that I regret not doing my research beforehand and realizing that the bootloader was upgraded to the new Locked more secure bootloader and I can now no longer downgrade or install custom ROMs on my device until somebody in the wonderful dev community figures out a way to do so.

By pure luck alone I still have root thanks to chainfire even though it triggered the security counter but I don't care because luckily knock on wood I have never accidentally broken my device
 
Just attempted an over the air update with my works free WiFi and it told me I have the latest, will try Kies tonight.
 
Just tried my update check and its started the download straight off, will this wipe all my settings and have to reinstall apps and layout home screens etc ??

My phone is a UK unbranded OXX btw.

Update installed and all icons stayed in place.
Negative is that several apps i've used since have stuttered at times and on Simpsons Tapped out it evens seems to freeze for a few seconds which has happened several times..I wish i'd just thought to myself 'if it aint broke'....

Have you had any luck subequent to this post? This was a releatively small download, and shouldn't haven taken anywhere near that amount of time. Maybe you have/had wifi connection issues, or maybe there was network congestion when you last tried?

Have you had any success subsequent to this post? this was a relatively small download, and shouldn't have taken anywhere near that amount of time. Maybe you have/had wifi connection issues, or maybe there was network or server congestion when you tried last?

Been running 4.3 for a fair few weeks now, updated this latest fix last night, after about an hour.

Still having the same battery issues.

EDIT: I have an unbranded S4.
