Root [Boost Mobile] Official CyanogenMod 11 Nightlies!

Ahhh ok yeah I will do the same. Guess I am just a creature of habit and hate feeling as if I am being forced to use hangouts now rather than a dedicated SMS app. Alas I too shall give it it's fair chance to impress me lol.

Me too! After work tonight I will tell you how to install the old one if you want.

Yeah sure that would be cool :D Currently gonna install Gosms as it's always been my fav secondary messaging app. Do you think it'll work? Also I am curious which method of modding the apn settings you use.

Maybe I am just impatient but I just can't do hangouts. I Installed 8sms lol. I like my quick reply popup and doesnt seem hangouts has it

8sms is about as close to stock as it gets, but I thought the interface was still just a bit "off."

It is off and it seems to look like the older SMS app from cm 10.2 granted there isn't much of a change, it is noticeable to some of us nerds lol xD

Well on my boost phone it just doesn't keep a signal at all. which sucks because I really love the buttery smoothness of the this rom in every other way. As I sit right nwo no signal at all. went out no signal except for a lil while where I had LTE but that was it now nothing and I can't send MMS which sucks also lol. Oh well may go back to stock

Have you tried any other modem, like MG2 or even one of the Sprint ones like MK3?

Not yet no. I did the flashable fix that is flashable in recovery that gave me my LTE but that was it. The fix I posted earlier in this thread gives me 3g and MMS. Running the MK5 modem. If I flash one if the other ones modems can I flash back to MK5?

Yes, modems are easily flashable and interchangeable as long as they are for VM, Boost or Sprint. I keep a folder on my SD card just of modems for that purpose. Go to the VM side of the SGS3 forums and look for a thread by iMaYG titled "Radios" I have posted all the needed links in that thread. Thank JD too, he provided all the VM/Boost ones.

Hmm might give it a go sometime here soon. What One are you using and are you having any issues with MMS or Data?

I am currently using MK5, but MG2 also worked really well for me. So did Sprint's most recent one MK3, which came out as part of their official 4.3 stock update. I do get really good service at home, usually full bars, and at work not so much so, but still 2-3 bars consistently. Haven't noticed any real difference between the various modems I've tried, but also lucky enough (in my opinion obviously!) to not be living in an urban jungle, with lots of tall buildings and obstacles to cell service. My advice mainly is to just try several of them for long enough to see if you have one win out over the other, what works for me in Colorado is going to be different for you in your part of the country.

Have you tried the new build struckn

Are you talking about 12/13 nightly, which would be the only one newer than the modified one I posted? Otherwise, I have been running the 12/12 since I uploaded it for you guys. Out of curiosity, is there something specific you would like to know about or just my general impression of 4.4.2?

Yeah trying MK# currently and so far so good. No need to apply any sort of fix seems things have worked out of the box for me. Now I've been home so no LTE while I am here and so no way to find out if that works as it should. I also solved my issue about Messaging app. I simply used an older gapps from 11/26 i believe the date was and it doesn't affect the Messaging app and let me keep it so that's how I did it.

If it works for you it works for me buddy! Glad to hear you are back on track. If you haven't already, make a folder on your SD card just for modems, the one I have is split into two subfolders, one for VM/Boost modems and one for Sprint so I know which is which at a glance. Since I am OCD about this kind of thing, I have a main folder called ROM Folder which has everything I need from actual ROM's to kernels to modems to mods, broken down into appropriate subfolders. That way I don't have to search multiple directories when I am in recovery mode, I just go straight to ROM Folder and proceed from there. I must admit, after an afternoon of use, Hangouts isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The transitions especially are pretty cool, I think I am going to keep using it for a while. Would like to be able to theme it dark/holo, that is how I run all my other apps when possible. If anyone has a suggestion, I am always open to that, I do like to run custom themes with the Theme Chooser option, maybe I will see if one of those works for now.

Edit: Just realized TeamBlackOut offers themed Hangouts, but they are already a version behind after just releasing an update a couple of days ago due to a more recent Google update to Hangouts. I love some of their other Blacked Out/Cleared Out options like Google Now, so will definitely use them to theme Hangouts once it is updated on the TeamBlackOut side.

Yeah seemed to not be too bad though I honestly think my OCD stopped me from giving it a fair chance lol. I also have my files and folders categorized in this fashion in order to make them easily accessible as you mentioned. I prefer things ot be neat and orderly lol. I also bit the bullet and just installed the CM11 right from Cyanogenmod without using your debloated one though I did use the older GAPPS in order to keep my MMS app. I of course made it flashable on my boost phone and it worked well. I just installed the latest 12/13 build via CWM dirty flash of course wiping both caches just for good measure. I uploaded the rom that is flashable on Boost phones that has otherwise been untouched. I was gonna link to it here in the event that others wanted to try the whole thing as it was released by Cyanogenmod but didn't want to highjack your thread.

Link away my friend, no highjacking as far as I see it! I want any thread I start to be open to all to use as they see fit, but I appreciate you being considerate for sure. I welcome your collaboration specifically on this thread, your contributions are keeping it moving in a very positive direction. In the future I think I will upload two versions when I offer something like this, a ready to flash version and a personal preference version, thanks to your input.

Always a pleasure helping out :D It's all about doing just that. People come on here and want, want, want instead of helping out or giving so it is always nice to give back some.

So here we go guys. This is the latest nightly of CM11 dated 12/13/13. The only thing I have done is modify it so it is flashable on any of the S3 devices including our Boost Mobile variants. I also am linking the PA_GAPPS from 11/26/13 that I am using that will work just fine with CM11 but wont remove your MMS app if you like to use it as I do. I will also link the more recent GAPPS that will make it so you use the Hangouts app for Messaging.

Looks like you may have just proved that the GApps aren't as specific to the builds as I thought they were initially, i.e. as long as they are 4.4-based then the incremental part of the Android build doesn't matter (.1, .2, .3, etc.). Thanks for posting, it looks like this will be very helpful to a lot of users! Anyone who uses these be sure to hit "thanks" for my buddy APOPHiS420.

Nice but just to let everyone know instead of rebooting the phone whenever you want to switch between wifi and data you can download an app like rebooter and turn off wifi and choose the hotboot (which kills everything except the system essential giving you that first boot up feeling) your phone and the data will reconnct it's a sorta wifi /data fix

I don't think vm has that data /wifi issue right?
