Software Upgrade 4.3 galaxy s3

Safe? Yes, if you want to risk problems. Everyone seems to get different problems, so we can't tell you which ones you'll get. If I had an S3, I wouldn't update yet. (I'm not an early adopter if it's going to turn a few hundred dollars into ashes. I wait until everyone says, "this is a great update" before I update, unless I have an easy way to back out. So if I could use Odin to return to the current ROM, I would - but if you're on AT&T or Verizon, you may not be able to.)

Thank you for that.

Er what is Odin and At&T please.

Odin is Samsung PC software for flashing firmware onto the phone.
At&t is a US carrier

I wouldnt. A lot of people are bricking their phone by trying to downgrade from 4.3
Tbh i think most of the 4.3 problems have been ironed out. Id recommend a factory reset after the update though

thank you I was looking at how to flash it back, looks a bit beyond me tbh.

I definately wont' be updating to the 4.3 I will wait.:)

If you want a trouble free phone DO NOT UPDATE TO 4.3 i did and ended up with an unusable handset, Samsung didn't want to know and ignored us all for over a month, eventually i had to send it away through the company i bought it through to have it returned back to 4.1.2 and that's where I'm stopping.
Because Samsung refused to revert us back to 4.1.2 through OTA or Kies i personally think they have rushed out the fix and therefore there are still people complaining of serious bug issues.

Can i ask what problems it gave you, what carrier version youre on and if you tried a factory reset mate?
I just want to make it clear that
1) there isnt a problem with android 4.3, its samsungs version of it thats had issues.
2) a little patch update fixed the original issues that the international version had.
3) a factory reset is ALWAYS advisable after a big update like that.

Trust me im not a fan of samsung firmware in any way, i just dont want people being scared into staying on really old versions of android

how do found the carrier version?

What's your phone service provider. Thats the carrier.

Im on metropcs on the gsm model. Having absolutely no problems on 4.3. I didnt do a reset because the phone was only eight hours old before I updated.

I'm on Verizon and my problem with 4.3 is my stock browser will not click on web icons sometimes. I try the Chrome browser and noticed a big battery drain. Other than the stock browser issues, it seems okay.

What I experienced with the 4.3 update was that a few settings got activated/deactivated without my knowledge like the camera flash lighting up when the alarm goes off or when I get a call. I did lose all of my album covers on my songs and had to fix them. I had 2 apps that weren't behaving properly and I had to just uninstall and reinstall them. Other than that, I had no other issues with 4.3. Overall, my phone is running very well on 4.3.

I just got the 4.3 update overnight...and it runs smooth as hot butter over a baked potato! There were a few, understandably, small changes but that's going to happen with any update. Turned off the flash notification, made a few personal alterations to fit my liking (like when I first bought the phone) and so far it's as if I have a new phone, and I am liking the update.

How did you turn off the camera flash notification after 4.3? I've looked everywhere, and the folks at the Verizon store had no clue.

So my wife and I received the 4.3 update on Verizon yesterday. Since then, our battery life has been crap. It's draining about twice as fast as before the update. This sucks. Has anyone had any luck contacting Verizon about this?

Try turning the phone off. Pull out the battery. Wait about 10 seconds. Put the battery back in and turn the phone on. See if your battery life returns to normal.

Stuntman,
My tele did the same thing. How did you stop the light flashing with the alarm? Mine also does it now when I get emails. Cant seem to figure out how to disable it.

Other than that I like the new upgrades but I have to get the light deal fixed.

Thanks

Go into Settings, Accessability and there should be an option for flash on notifications. Check the box then uncheck it
