how is it?

Coming from galaxy nexus. Looking to maybe take advantage of tmobile etf promotion. Am in between s4 google play version and this. Wished the front was white too but looks sleek. Anything really glaring about this phone?

IMO, it's better than the S4 in terms of build quality and the OSs are the same if you're looking at the S4 Play version. S4 prob has a better camera, but overall I'd go for the N5.

A slightly better phone for much less money, it's not even close.

You should perhaps consider the Play HTC One, now that's an N5 rival. Build quality excellent, sound and camera beyond the N5. Ignoring price it's a very tough choice. Taking price into account, N5.

This is an N5 forum though, so might be worth posting on S4 and HTC One forums to get their views.

Well, I'm pretty partial to Nexus devices in generally, and especially the Nexus 5, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that that's the one I recommend. For you, it of course depends on which you prefer based on their differences.

But here is a nice incentive to go with the Nexus 5 in my opinion (stock updated Android 4.4.2 with my usual setup of apps installed, background services running, etc.):

My only minor complaints really are that the main speaker on the Nexus 5 is a bit underwhelming, and it is a little too easily covered up when holding the Nexus 5 landscape-style while gaming and the like. While these shortcomings can be a bit of an annoyance, they aren't anywhere near enough of one to make me think twice about whether or not I went with the right smart phone, regardless of price. It's just a nice bonus that the Nexus 5 has a pretty good bang for the buck.

Camera functionality and picture quality have been improved with the 4.4.2 update. They're more than good enough for my general mobile device needs, enough so that I prefer taking pictures with my Nexus 5 now instead of carrying around my digital camera too (though granted, my digital camera isn't the greatest of cameras out there).

Here's a link to a post I made in another thread on this forum which is a basic overview of the Nexus 5 with my opinions on it: http://androidforums.com/nexus-5/809914-whats-_-good-_-about-nexus-5-a.html#post6346532

where did people buy from?

google has the 32gb at $400.
tmobile has 16gb at $400, but includes wifi calling (which i don't know if i'd use) I live in metro area, so idk if reception will be cruddy.

The Nexus 5 bought from tmobile doesn't have WIFI calling either since it's all stock Android and that doesn't include wifi calling

Interesting tried to dupe me.

Think ill go google route n get extra 16gb for money n wait seeing how tmobile wont pay 2 months of etf then.

I got mine (16GB, white) from Sprint with new contract setup. We were using Sprint already, but were thinking about moving to another carrier. We stuck with Sprint for unlimited data/talk/text though, as well as fortunately getting great reception from the towers they use at work (full bars LTE) and above average at home (two to three bars LTE).

I probably used over 15GB of data within the first couple of weeks of getting my Nexus 5, installing/updating apps and streaming video and audio. (Why bother with Wi-Fi?) :)

I just wish Sprint offered unlimited data for using my Nexus 5 as a mobile hotspot as well so that my family, friends, and coworkers could use it.
