Root [Virgin Mobile] Simple root on new S3

I apologize if I am asking a basic question that can be answered by reading through the forums. I have looked through the threads but there is a lot of info, and I'm feeling info overload.

I rooted my S3 when I first got it almost a year ago. Since then, I haven't done anything else to it, and I've been fine with it. But recently my phone has developed a charging problem because of the port, so they're sending me a new phone. I have been ignoring the frequent update alerts to kitkat because I am not sure what to do about it, and did not want to spend a lot of time messing with things on my phone.

Now that I have to switch over to another phone, it seems like I will have to deal with rooting again. I want something very simple: I want the stock ROM, only rooted. I just want to do this to titanium backup all the stuff on my old phone and carry it over to the new phone. I won't deal with flashing a backup because I assume that would cause problems since my old phone is not updated to kitkat.

I'm a little overwhelmed by talk of knox and everything else.

Is there a simple way, when I get my new s3, to simply root the stock ROM, copy over my stuff, and be done? I don't really want to mess with anything else. Could anyone tell me if this is simple, and what I'd have to do, or point me to a thread with the simple steps to follow?

You should check out this guide HERE put up by TheBritton. It is exactly what you want. A rooted stock rom running 4.3. As long as your existing phone is running 4.3, you should be able to use the backups created using Titanium. However, if your backups were from an older version of the Android OS you may run into issues. And with that said, you should only restore the data and not the program. Grab the programs first from the app store like normal.

Thanks so much. I'll just follow those steps. I assume I don't have to update anything and should ignore any prompt to do so once I turn on the new phone since that thread says to download a MK5 rom zip, is that correct?

My current phone is running 4.1.3. You think it will create issues if I TBu those apps? I have over 150, so would be very annoying to download each one all over again.

From what I read you would want the same base system as what you are moving to. 4.3 on old and 4.3 on new. And also not to move the app, just the data. Just in case a program changed something to be more compatible in the newer version. But someone else may be able to give you a better answer. I started fresh with my phone so I didn't have any backups to move.

My google play store instantly started to download and install my phone on the first reboot of me logging into my google account. So you may not have to reinstall each app manually. Just reboot with wifi on.

I haven't updated my phone to 4.3 though since I wasn't sure how to do it, since it was already rooted. All I really need on my new phone once rooted are all my apps back with the data. I was thinking that even if it's an old version of the app and needs a newer version to run on 4.3, I could just go to the playstore and update everything, but I don't know if that would work.
