Upgrade Verizon on Walmart.com, keep unlimited data?

Has anyone tried to upgrade their Verizon phone through Walmart.com and attempt to keep unlimited data?

The website has the option to keep the current plan, but had a box that explains you have to choose a new data plan. At checkout, it never asked me to choose a new data plan. I did not complete checkout.

Has anyone tried this to see if you actually can keep your unlimited data or does Walmart/Verizon automatically convert you to a different plan.

I wouldn't trust it. My sister had to keep her current phone because Verizon wouldn't let her keep her unlimited plan if she upgraded her phone.

In order to keep your unlimited data plan you must pay full retail price for the new phone. You need to either go into a store or call Verizon & speak to a CSR & have them process the order. Verizon has removed the option to pay full retail & keep your unlimited data plan in hopes to get you on one of their new data plans. Just to be sure I would go into a Verizon Corporate store & not Wal*Mart.

Ordering online at best buy has allowed people to keep their UDP, as long as they used their old 4g SIM card instead of the new one to activate the phone...

No. Whenever you upgrade a line that has unlimited data, you lose it. There are ways to get around that, but most stores do not allow it, namely the Verizon corporate store. I know for a fact that there are 3rd party retailers such as Diamond Wireless and Radioshack who can still keep unlimited data on any plan with at least one phone that doesn't have unlimited so long as you find a representative that knows what they're doing.

BTW, it can only be done through Verizon's EROES system. Doing it online will always result in losing unlimited AFAIK.

I have been getting around the "upgrade issue" by always upgrading the same line on our family plan, and moving the old phone to the unlimited plan. Will this no longer work?

I.e.-
Phone #1 and #2, unlimited.
Phone #3, 2gb plan.

So I buy new phone for #3, and the old #3 phone rolls to #1 or #2, no plans change. Will this still work?

I don't believe they've removed it online. I just checked the Verizon website and if you order a phone at full retail no contract price, you still retain your unlimited data plan.

I just finished this process and it still works. My upgrade was not until April 3rd. Verizon and Amazon did not allow me to upgrade early. Best Buy allowed me through their system. I ordered the phone online and picked it up about 30 minutes later. This was around 12:30 pm.

I had them activate the phone on a dumb line that I had. When I got back to work I went online and activated the old dumb phone back on to get rid of the data plan.

I took the Sim card out of my old smartphone and put it in my Note 3. I activated that phone online. It is now less than 2 hours later since I ordered the phone and all my lines are up to date and the phones all work on the lines I want them to work on. The dumb phone line contract has been extended and my note 3 is on my main line still with unlimited data.
