How can I remotely access IPTV box from my PC?

I have seen that it is possible to take remote control of my PC desktop from my Android devices but I have the opposite problem and haven't been able to find a solution yet.

I recently set up a friend's Android IPTV box with apps to watch some live TV channels. I have now found a couple more apps with streams for other channels he wants but he is not at all capable of setting them up himself and he lives over an hour drive away.

Is it possible for me to install an app on his box the next time I visit him so that in future I can remotely access it from my PC and install/uninstall apps for him?

I've forgotten exactly how I did it now but years ago I used to be able to do something similar PC to PC using dynamic DNS and I could even reboot the remote PC so I'm hoping there is a similar solution for his Android box as it is really just a mini PC running a different OS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You just register your router with DDNS and point the STB in the router to a default ip and alow access so next time you point your pc to the name on the DDNS server you are going to the STB in the firend home or you point the ip to the pc take a remote control over the PC with ddns & RDP or just using a teamviwer or alike , than you can take control over the stb in the lan

If I understand you correctly you want ot access his Android box remotely via your PC.

There are two ways in which you could accomplish this.

1. If you get access to the Google account of your friend, which is used to sign into the Play Store on the box then you could remotely install/uninstall apps on the box via his/hers Google account (in 'Apps > My Apps') - proviso is authorisation of your friend!

2. You could try this app AirDroid: Control your Android device from a PC! which enables remote access via the internet, evern if your PC and the device are not on the same (local network). I have heard of many users being quite impressed with the app, which also can function as a security app.

Everything else, including what ssharoni referred to is accessing a PC via an Android App on you mobile device; there a many of these such as Teamviewer (mentioned above) and Splashtop (which I use and can fully recommend), but very view for the purpose you seem to want them for.

This method will only allow access to files on the sd-card (external/internal) that you can normally access via a USB to your PC, such as Media and document folders, but it will not enable access to the UI of the device or the settings/apps menus.

Thanks heat57 you understand what I need to do and the Airdroid app looks like it could be the solution. I'll be seeing my friend at the weekend and I'll report back how I get on.

Thanks also to other responders for more useful information which prompted me find the android dyndnspro client app that I am sure I may also find a use for in the future.
