You want download mode, not recovery mode. Odin isn't reading your SD card, it just needs to recognize your phone, and then you can push the Philz file.

So I dont need to push power volume and home buttons then sorry just learning wanna make sure I get it right.
For download mode you need to hold volume down, home key, and power button all at the same time until the script appears. Just like for when you pushed the stock tar file.

Yeah I thought so but everytime I do that it disconnects from ordin it says its in recovery mode not download why?
Make sure you aren't connected via USB when you put your phone into download mode. You want to put it into download mode first, then connect via USB, otherwise Odin will give you problems.

Volume down plus home key plus power button, correct? Volume up plus the other two gives recovery. Make sure you are holding the buttons down long enough as well.

No problem. Also, don't forget to uncheck Auto Reboot in Odin, otherwise your phone will reboot too early and the Philz file won't be pushed properly.

Now is when you want to boot into recovery, you should see Philz and not the stock Samsung recovery (volume up, home key, and power button; hold it through the vibrate until you see the blue script in the top left corner).

OK, you will first want to make a backup of the working stock ROM so that you will always have something to fall back on. Choose "Backup and Restore" and then "Backup to sdcard1." SDcard1 is external memory. This will take a few minutes, so be patient. When it is finished, choose "Install Zip" and then navigate to the location of the SuperSU zip file, then flash it.

No, flashing is done from the touch interface of the recovery.

No, what you just referenced is how you boot into recovery, once you are in recovery you use the touch interface.

Reboot system will take you back into your current operating system. Did you make a backup yet? If you have, you want to flash the SuperSU zip, from the "Install Zip" option in the menu. This will give you root.
