Help what's up with my storage?

i am guessing you are using a 32 GB nexus. but your available space is really low.
did you do any kind of partitioning? did you use any kind of nandroid back up from another device with lower volume?

Backups were it. I has 3 or 4, deleted the oldest ones, freed up space.

What that you only have 26gigs out of 32?No seems about right same thing with mines OS take about 6gb.

That I only had a little over 2GB free when the breakdown of what data was being stored in which types of apps didn't add up to 24ish GB.

i just looked through some posts of yours and saw that you made multiple CWM and other backups and have them saved on the phone. i am not rooted and i do not have any idea whether any backup (nandroid or otherwise) staying in the internal storage will show when you are out of recovery. someone with enough knowledge about that may help you. if the back ups are on the phone they have to take up space. so common sense says. you just may not have access to them out of recovery.

I believe CMW stores backups on the system partition, so yes, those would take space from the total space but would not show up on the Internal Storage breakdown. TWRP Nandroid backups are stored in a folder in Internal Memory, so they would be accounted for. My Misc category is 4GB because of backups. However, because I have easy access to the, I can easily back them up to my computer and delete.
