Data use warning from Virgin Mobil USA

Galaxy Tab2 47

Android Enthusiast
If i use over 2.5gb of data my net speed is dropped from 3G or 4G to 2G. Guess Virgin is getting heat from SPRINT since it's their towers Virgin is using. Maybe a new phone and new service provider is soon to be for me.:)

This isn't new - Virgin Mobile has had a throttling policy after 2.5 GB for several years now on their smartphone plans. Only the "2G" part of the statement has changed (I haven't gotten that message yet, but have seen it posted and assume I'll get it soon). Those of us with LTE phones have been fortunate that Virgin Mobile hadn't been able to monitor its usage so far, but we all knew it would only last so long.

What does Virgin Mobil consider data?

I'd assume all the standard - downloading apps, streaming media, web browsing, any data that apps use... Calling and regular SMS do not use/require a data connection. The only thing I'm unsure of is if MMS is counted as data toward the 2.5 GB limit.

Thank you for the reply, and the Info.

I'm with virgin and got throttled last month and got the message this month about the speeds going down to 2G...my speed was horrible at 3G so I can't even imagine. If I continue to get through throttled which I am but even sure why I was I don't tether it stream so I doubt I went over 2.5g I'll have to switch.
