Twitter's 8th birthday: Find anyone's first tweet!

I love Twitter. It's quick, easy, and interesting. At one point I wrote a shell script, using curl, so I could tweet from a command line. Then they went and changed their API, and I wasn't motivated enough to modify my script. *shrug*

Facebook, on the other hand...don't get me started. Their covert sharing of users' data just doesn't do it for me. Deleted my account a few years ago and never looked back!

I used to tweet what was on my mind, but then now I use AFs "Random Thought" sticky for that... :D Never followed anything, I use RSS feeds for that. In fact occasionally AF threads are far better than any RSS or tweeting, e.g. the missing Malaysia Airlines plane.

Oh I detest Facebook, but on the other hand it has been useful for me occasionally to stay in touch with a couple of friends in the UK who don't use anything else. Anything I put on there, I just assume is public and the NSA or whatever is welcome to it. In fact something very good came out of FB a few months ago. Got in contact with an old school friend from 35 years ago, who I'm seeing again this summer. :) ...I have Google+ as well, but only use that occasionally, but again anything I put on there, I'll assume could be public and the spooks will have full access to it.

Twitter is simple and straight to the point

That is why I am not very active on Twitter. The thoughts I have that I want to share with people tend to me more complex than can fit in a space of 140 characters or so. I'm not the only one. People I follow tend to make multiple tweets at a time. When I read them, I end up reading them in reverse chronological order which is rather annoying. On top of that, it is rather difficult to have any form of meaningful discussion on Twitter. Because of these limitations, I find that Twitter is not very engaging for me.

I checked my first ever Tweet. It was rather uninteresting. I would like to find a way to find my first ever Google+ post. I think it is way more interesting that my first ever Tweet.

I've gotten pretty good at it over the years. People here KNOW how verbose I can be. :D So imagine me trying to cram meaningful thoughts into 140 characters. But with efficient use of hashtags and Twitter names WITHIN the comment, it's not hard, really. That plus getting over the deeply ingrained need to write complete sentences. :) Here's an example:

Just made donation to @MercyForAnimals to help protect farmed #animals from #cruelty. You can too! https://www.charity-pay.com/mfa/donation.asp #vegan #compassion

Hahaha!

just had to laugh at myself:rolleyes:
my first tweet was:

Tweet this! hahaha!

I must have been feeling silly when I created my account...because my name or handle or whatever you call it..is ....me@twittinstuff! hahahah!

blahahaha...then the next twit..i mean tweets:p are a couple years later...and I'm "having words" with a local mayor about his policy on stray cats:D hahah! we are kind of going at it!!

...idiot was spouting some crap trying to justify his idiotness..citing precedents and laws that were totally out of context and not even relevent to his argument..seriously just a total D bag..thinking people are stupid and would just take what he said as accurate and justified..honestly he made stuff up and I called him out on it...

yeah.......that will learn him to mess with me@twittinstuff! seriously though:rolleyes::D

I have a screwy name also. I never use the same name twice for any site. I'd probably have to dig to see just what I registered under.

I only registered to get the Yankees scores in one ALCS game. No web site had the play by play at the time.
