Finally got WiFi tether working on Boost Moto G.
For this we require following things.

Tutorial 1 - for non boost users using boost moto g without activation on boost.
Tutorial -2 for actual boost user check below quot by SuperR

Here is a flashable that makes the change in build.prop.

To root your phone, you can follow bootloader unlock thread in Motorola section.

Now ones you are rooted and ready with SQL lite editor installed.

R u on 4.4.2 or 4.3 ?
This was done in 4.4.2. Might be 4.3 have some different method of blocking .

Can u upload screen shot of about menu and entry where its (3).

U should make it as 1 and try.
After reboot try making it zero.

Also there is one entry in build.prop for tether set to 0
Net.tethering.on change that and try .

Don't forget to keep backup

I've tried different values but still a no go. I'm on the latest version of kitkat 4.4.2 with the recent update. I have tried with odex and deodexed roms

Got it to work, had to change build.prop also, thanks Hitesh123

Can I change device name and password to whatever I want, or leave it open?

Me to it acts like its going to work then says cant connect to data services i went from zero to ten in settings w a reboot at every change

If nothing is working will suggest to save min and other ota data and flash stock again.
I have link for one click restore .
If any one wants let me know

Thanks

Turns out the only thing needed is changing the following line in build.prop
Code:
ro.mot.tether_dun_required=1
to
Code:
ro.mot.tether_dun_required=0
Save and reboot. No need to change db files with a paid app :D

Here is a flashable that makes the change in build.prop.
falcon_boost_hotspot_fix_2.zip

edit: I redid this flashable so it will work with any version of the stock rom. It no longer replaces build.prop, instead it edits the line in place. If the line does not exist (ie. custom roms, etc.), no change will be made. This will avoid problems if someone flashes it on a custom rom without knowing it is unnecessary.

what are the needed changes in build.prop?
