Hey, I am a Chinese high student who is doing a research project about Android now. My topic is mainly about the reason why android phones work slower than the first time people use their phones. I do not have much knowledge on this topic but I am really interested in Android. Would anyone one like to give me some advice about some specific aspects I need to consider about and talk about some basic knowledge with me? Thank you.:D

hi and welcome to AF....

fresh out of the box.. the phone only has the apps it came with.. and some of them are not active till the owner starts them. Then the user will start to load the phone with apps the want.. and random apps/games they feel like trying. some will have background processing needs. example: facebook is always looking to update you and what is going on with your friends. little by little you are giving the phone more to do.

homescreens are empty.. only a few widgets are there. you start to add more widgets as you play with your phone. widgets also require resources to get the info updated.

And it seems like most people just have to have some elaborate or cutsie animated background which wastes system resources which inturn slows things down. I think the main reason is as Dan said, users just adding stuff to the phones.

I love my live wallpaper.

I don't mind it takes a 1/50 of a sec longer to scroll. or eats 1% of my battery a day.

Your doing a research paper on why android phones get slower over time? Wow, I thought the psychological impact of atomic bombs was a hard topic.

I suggest you firstly research hardware, and how software keeps improving to the point where the hardware can't keep up with current software. That's the reason I think android, (and all computers) become slower over time.

Thank you, I think I need to learn more about Android.:)
