At&t Rep Tried to talk me out of early upgrade to S5

SO I called AT&T THE other day to get an early upgrade since I am a premier customer I can usually get an upgrade a couple of months before my actual upgrade. The rep said he could do it with his managers override but then asked why would I want to do it when Samsung was going to come out with a much better version of this phone very soon but then would not tell me anything more. I then said I would call back latter and he started to back peddle wanting to know why I didn't want the upgrade. Wow was a weird conversation and I am sure he is talking about some different version of the S5 but now I am wondering if I should wait or just get it and then if whatever is coming out is all that and a bag of chips sell the one I get and get it. Now I am so confused.
 
you rep doesn't know jack didly squat but rumors the only other phone coming out is the K zoom S5 which has lesser specs similar to example between S4 and S4 active. difference with k zoom has a 19 mp camera so get your S5 and enjoy :)

I've got Premiere status, as well. It used to say that I was due to upgrade in March. However, with all of the new plans, they changed it back to August, which is 24 months from the last upgrade. I asked in a local store here if they would honor the March date, and they said "no." Then, they proceeded to try to talk me into a new plan where we pay per month for the new phones. That's actually more expensive for us, because we have an older plan which is cheaper, so we don't want to change our plan. I was interested to hear that ATT was willing to give you an early upgrade. Maybe I should try again.
 
PS - I wonder if the better phone coming is the new version of the NOTE. I've read that has better specs than the S5.

The only way I know of now to get an early upgrade with Premiere status is to call them. They will first try to talk you into the At&t Next program which is a joke and when you say no they will say they have to check your account and make sure you haven't had to many credits lately then get a supervisor override and then you have your upgrade. I did it for my husband back in December and he wasn't due until March. So I would give it a try.
 
Update I called again this morning and got a very nice lady on the phone who said I could only get a partial upgrade and tried to get me to change my plan and get rid of my grandfathered unlimited data. I stuck to my guns and long story short got my early upgrade for $199 and kept my unlimited data. I will have my phone overnight. :-) Cant wait!

The only way that will work is to dial 611 from your phone and I think it is the orders and upgrades options. They can't do anything with early upgrades at the store level anymore from what I gather. Just make sure you stick to your guns and they also will look at your account to see if you have had a lot of credits in the last year. If you have only had a few you should be good.

I explained again what it was I wanted, and said that I knew someone who had done that kind of upgrade. I told them they had to talk to the manager. She said, "OK," and talked to her manager. Then came back and told me it was OK to upgrade for the $199 plus the upgrade fee ($36 or $38). They also said they were shipping the phone overnight. However, when I look at the status online, it says it won't ship until 4/17 - 4/21. They must not have them in stock.

I spent about 70 minutes online with them while they had me on hold and were working it all out. I used that time to look for and order a case. So, I should be all set within a week.

Did you get your phone, yet?

Yes I just got the phone today and place the order on Sunday. The shipping dates are not correct because mine didn't show it going out until latter this week. I can't wait to get off work and fire it up ;-)
