Anyone Replace Touch Wiz With Nova Launcher Yet?

Wondering if this speeds up the performance or hampers it.

Any other issues with switvching launchers?

Or replacing the stock keyboard with Swiftkey?
 
Dunno if it speed it up or not and I won't get to find out.
Nova and Swipe will be in the group of things to get loaded without using the standard ones!

nova prime was loaded on my s5 before i put any other apps on it. been using nova on all my phones since it came out and really like it. as for whether it's faster than the stock launcher, i don't know but it performs as flawlessly and as fast as you can expect.
 
I only used the stock launcher and keyboard briefly while Nova and all of my other apps were downloading / installing.

I'm currently using Nova & Swift Key, which was also my setup on my previous phone. Seems as quick as ever and it has a lot more functionality than the stock launcher / keyboard.
 
I am new to android and galaxy s5 moving from Iphone. I did download Nova on the phone but somehow after Nova is installed the wallpaper on the phone looks like the phone ate away half the screen. What I mean is only half the wallpaper is showing up in home screen. Other screens look ok. Anyone has the same problem?

I prefer Nova too. Do you know if the layout can be backed up on the old phone and transferred to the S5, so all the app icons and widgets don't have to be added again?

Download and install Nova or any launcher from Play store. Then launch the app. You should see setting app of that launcher and it will let you select default home launcher in it.

Or sometimes pushing the home button will pop up launcher selection window if there is no default set yet.

nova does provide an option to back up / restore your settings. that could be a little finicky though since a proper restore would require all the setting, apps, widgets to be installed on the new phone before performing the restore.

personally whenever i try out a new phone i just install and configure everything from scratch. if i've made a back up for a specific app i'll install the application first and the use the application tools to restore the backup.

i've found the above approach to work best for me in avoiding problems on new devices.

Just a general question about Nova Launcher, is it just my phone or when you set a background does it zoom in on the image? And how do you correct this? I had a great background for it and now it looks all blurry because it's zoomed in and it doesn't even show the entire image.
 
The S5 UI is one of my main concerns. I prefer a less cartoony/clutter look and from what I've seen of TouchWiz it doesn't look pretty. Does Nova Launcher help/fix all of that or what can I expect? Are there any downsides to using Nova Launcher on the S5?
 
I left TouchWiz on for a few days, and just added Nova Launcher yesterday. I wasn't UNhappy with TouchWiz, but Nova Launcher has been a welcome addition, and I'm now deliriously happy. It's soooo smooth. :):):)

I picked up the S5 yesterday and installed Nova Prime right away - it runs perfectly.

Here's 2 photos from part of my setup using Nova. My home screen and the screen directly to the left. I'm using the "faded" nova theme and also bought the nova docks pack.

I really like the folders, customization options, and the gestures you can program to launch apps.

Pretty much, yes. Using a different launcher will let you customize the home screens any way you want, change the icons, etc. I don't have the S5 but I doubt there would be any downsides.

Try using Quickpic to set your wallpaper instead of the stock gallery app.
