Help ATT Visual Voicemail

Has anyone else had a problem getting ATT Visual Voicemail setup. I've spent hours with tech support so far and am having no luck getting it setup. Was anyone else successful.

I just hung up with tech support. What we finally decided was that you have to use the ATT Messaging app that includes voicemail, texts and phone calls. I prefer not to use that one, and was trying to use the text app that comes with the OS and another visual voicemail app, instead. It just would not activate. I guess I'm back to the ATT Messaging app. I'll have to learn to like it I guess.

FYI: On my GS3, I used the "YouMail" app. I could not get that app to set up on the GS 5, either.

Honestly - I loved the idea of a built in Visual Voicemail (iPhone's seem to do it right). However!

Use Google Voice! It's super convenient and even transcribes your voicemails out for you (if you're into that kind of thing).

I love it and use Google Voice whenever I'm rocking an Android.

The nice thing however about Samsung Galaxy S5 is it seems to play the voicemails in the call log when somebody leaves you one. I don't know if this really is a built in thing with Samsung or it's becaue of Google Voice.

Guessing it's built in with Samsung because of the icon and the UI and stuff.

Try it out and lemme know! :o

To set up visual voicemail, disable wifi. Wifi, for some reason, fracks up the initial connection that allows visual voicemail to be verified.

Thanks. I didn't know that you can use Google Voice with your cellphone number. I thought it was just for Google Voice numbers. Do you have to forward your cellphone calls to a Google voice number? I'm not at all sure how it's set up.

Thanks. The tech support man and I did try that. Still no luck, though. A whole other story was trying to find the setting that turns off the WiFi and KEEPS it off.

I do have a separate Google Voice number but it seems there is an option to use Google Voice just for your voicemail with your current number. There is a set up within the program and a setting on your phone thru the Settings to change voicemail from carrier to Google Voice.
