SIM card to new phone

So I live in the us (Florida) and I currently have a phone with a SIM card in it. My aunt who lives in South America (Colombia) said she would give me her samsung galaxy and I would give her the phone I have now. Can I put my old SIM card that I'm using on my phone now and just put it in her phone with no problem? Or would it not work because she already has it registered to a plan in a different country?

Your gonna have to 1. Unlock the phone. This requires a sim unlock code you either get from the company the phone is on now or you pay a company to unlock it for you. Now you may get lucky and the phone may be already unlocked as it was used in another country. You need to find out if its unlocked or not and if its not it needs to be.
2. Since it is a international phone your gonna wanna make sure it works with north american t mobile bands. Your aunt is gonna want to do the same with your phone make sure it supports the networks you plan on using them on. 3. After you do both of these and if its good to go you need to call metro pcs or go online into your account and give them the imei number of the phone so they can link it to your sim and account. It doesnt matter if its on another account outside the country. Itll work as long as the phone wasnt reported stolen or anything. But the first 2 steps need to be done first or it wont work at all.
