Root Root News

Ok Buddy I'm in the same boat. My memory has been full since the day I bought it. Would love to get rid of these system apps, metro and Google Apps. Plz any one with info Plz help. And also is there a way to turn my SD card into internal storage and internal into external storage? Would most likely have to have root access for something like that.

I am thinking about getting this phone. MetroPCS has it for "free" [after a $49 rebate]. But, you can "trade-in" y0ur old phone and bypass this rebate.

I've been looking around and have not seen a "specific" root process for this phone. But, there are other "general" root processes.

Q: Has anyone been able to root this phone [safely]?

You'll have to pay a $15 "rebate fee" (which I think is dumb but whatever) and a $15 sim activation fee, so a $50 "free" phone is really $90+ taxes. But you get the rebate. Which is nice.

I'll check with the store. I think the "trade-in" is supposed to take care of the $49. Of course, there are "activation" fees and so on.

To respond to your root question: Not that I know of. This phone just came out, so everything surrounding it (that I know of) is a brave new world.

So if I trade in my Lg optimus f6 does that mean the phone is automatically free and I just have to pay the activation fee and what not???

To be honest, I don't have the balls to try that root method on my phone, haha. I'd rather not brick my brand new phone. If someone tries it, please tell me about the outcome.

It's not a matter of "balls". You need to very carefully read the material that's out there and come to a conclusion?

:o I just noticed that this phone is 4G and not 4G LTE. My understanding is that LTE can provide much faster connectivity? I'll probably keep looking for another phone.

Yeah the 4g is sllllloooooowwwwww. Does good for gps and music but streaming hd videos like YouTube is buffer city. 3g is just a little bit slower.

When in first got mine, the 4g was fast... Comparable to my old phone. I was so busy reinstalling most of my apps that I didn't take into acct that it could get slower.

On my old phone, even when I went over 500gb... Throttling wasn't so bad. Pages still loaded pretty well. Now after I went over the limit ... The "4g" is like 2g. I don't know what happened!!!

there is no LTE on this phone so therefore there should be no cap, there's a few '4g' mobile network types this phone can receive and some will be faster than others. try toggling airplane mode on and off to try to hookup to a different network.

Besides the other root method posted here. Have any of you tried saferoot? Its generic. But I have used it on three different phones. If your boot laoder is not patched. It will work. If it is patched. It does no harm. There is a apk for it now and you can run it directly from phone.
