Root Flashing from Franco to Faux

I ran into a bit of issue with the phone process FCing and spamming the phone, so can't get an accurate catlog. When I try to "reset" the boot partition of ROM and I can't seem to run faux kernel anymore. What I've done was flash/boot the boot.img extracted from the rom zip (running on carbon rom) and booted normally from there and then went back to recovery to finish flashing faux kernel u16 revision 2. I figured xposed wasn't the source because even with a dirty flash of the rom, xposed has no app_proccess anymore and i still get the fc on android.phone process.

Sounds like a gapps issue, not a kernel issue. What gapps are you using?

When you flash the stock boot.img from the ROM, theres no FC's with the same gapps?

Ah didn't figured that could be the problem. Been flashing pa gapps (google stock) dated at 5-13-14. I will try and experiment with this.

After the fcing though, faux was flashed and all, the fc stopped when I flashed it over with Franco.

Same result, formatted system first using twrp (rm -rf) , then flashed carbonROM with faux without gapps. Will try wiping data, was trying to avoid doing this....

Update#1: Did a full wipe, flashed: carbon rom, faux, superSU. Same result.

Update#2: Wiped again, flashed just carbon and SU. Now systemUI is fcing.

Update#3: Rebooted from udate#2, systemUI fc didn't occur. Tried flashing faux, com.android.phone keeps fcing again.

Hmmm... Sounds like you were right, it wasn't the gapps then.

I wonder if faux need to update his kernel to work with the latest nightlies then. He hasn't updated his XDA thread since April 4th.

What version of the kernel are you using? It looks like hes got more recent betas

I haven't changed roms in a long time, but is carbon CM based? If so, faux won't work with it. Have you tried extracting the stock boot.img from the factory image and using that?

Its aosp based but uses some patches from them. Its AOSP enough for Franco to work.

It was working when I first decided to give carbon a try. Then decided to flash Franco, I've read somewhere that Franco kernels are non-image files and flashing faux over it would not flash completely.

Its best to flash the stock kernel for the ROM you are on before switching custom kernels.

They don't always play nice with other parts of the boot.IMG from other kernels
