Why Is The Gallery Random?

Why do the pics appear in a random order when I view them? If I name the photos 1 through 9 then I expect to be able to scroll through them in that order. What actually happens is that 1 will be somewhere in the middle. Can I fix this?

The Media Scanner finds the pictures in the order in which their names sit in the directories they're in. That's what Gallery shows, it has no sort function. QuickPic does. (It's free at Play.) Menu/Sort.

But the names are alphabetical or numerical. I don't understand what you're saying.

Well, I've installed QuickPics as you suggested and it's great. Lots of sort and view options, I love it!

I also think the stock Gallery sort not only by name but Date taken. If you rename a file that was taken yesterday with a name 001 and take a pic today and name it 002 it will be first as it is todays date. This is what I see in my Gallery.
