Root [Verizon] Tmobile sim in a Verizon Galaxy s3 4.3

Lurker
I recently purchased a galaxy s3 off of Craig's list and was intending on using it with my tmobile sim, I popped the sim in the galaxy switched it over to gsm and selected T-Mobile and it jus said "registering with tmobile" then after a bit it would say "failed to establish a connection" please any help would be great, I've been searching forums for hours on end looking for a answer, anyone have any insight? Thanks in advance!! Oh and btw the s3 is currently rooted

The Verizon S3 is a CDMA phone. It can't establish a (2G) connection with a GSM carrier, so you can't do what you're trying to do.

i understand what you are saying but i just recently got connection to tmobile via global services but within a few minutes went away :/ im am extremely confuzzled

heres the screen shot i captured before i got the error message "the selected network (t-mobile) is not available" i was even able to send a quick text before i got cut off

Is it a CDMA or GSM phone? Need more info about this phone you purchased. Cause the phone just being rooted and having GSM capability may establish connection for a moment but will lose it in the long run.

it is a CDMA phone with GSM and Global capabilities, but the GSM bands between verizon and T-Mobile i heard are very different, so would there be a way i could possibly flash it to enable adequate GSM connection for my T-Mobile sim?

You can but u will may need to root to edit the prop file . or you can get the gsm patch and flash via clockworkmod or twrp

Try this . . .

[Q] sch-i535 on t-mobile - xda-developers

on my rom, (CleanRom 6r2 4.1.2)this works. I never changed any of the settings. After a reboot with the Tmobile sim, it will search for 4g service & should connect. Data will be edge only as far as I know. Also if you haven`t already, you will have to change your apn settings to get sms & data. In network settings, mine also works on CDMA or global for verizon. I often contemplated getting a Tmobile sim to test this after changing the network control/band settings in the field test menu . . . but never did . . .

here are some screenshots of the UTMS menu
