Help Keyboard voice input button?

I just switched to Samsung from years of pure Android. I kind of like the keyboard because of the number row, but I'm not sure about the voice input. Is there any option besides holding down the key, then selecting the mic icon? If I'm wanting to use the voice recognition, it's probably because I'm in a hurry or don't want to make many key presses - so I don't want multiple steps to open the voice feature. The stock Android keyboard has a mic button that just needs one click.

If you hold down on the Home Key, it will go to Google Now.
at least mine does.

I don't remember if I had to change anything to make that happen or not.

If I just click the home key, it goes to the Home Page.

Yeah, it does that by default. But if I'm in an SMS or something and want to reply, I'd prefer to hit the mic on the keyboard - opposed to going to Google Now and trying to tell it who to message, etc.

A single touch and release of the mic button and the phone should ask you to speak now to enter text into your SMS message. Don't hold the button. If the single touch doesn't work, there is something wrong with your phone/firmware.

Swype has that Mic button and even the option to display it or not. Might be a viable option for you. Looks like Google keyboard doesn't have a Mic button on the keyboard that I can see(Samsung keyboard does as well I think)

Well, the mic button started working with tap. I swear it was only bringing up a bubble window at first. Problem seems to be solved. Thanks!
