Help How do I manually transfer an app from my S4 to my S5?

So, I've been using a particular widget for a while now. It's called "ios 7 uccw skin lite"

It seems that it's been removed from the playstore so I can't download it from there. I have it on both my Note and S4 and have absolutely loved it.

How do I transfer the files for it from my S4 to my S5?

If it's not a paid app, you can retrieve the apk file using a file explorer that can reach the root directories.

The apks should be in /data/app. But these are only the free apks downloaded or ones you manually sideloaded to install. Premium apps cannot be recovered this way in order to reduce piracy.

It seems that the home path on my Note 10.1 2014 is /storage/emulated/0

From there, the only thing that says data is /data_app, which only has one small file in it

It's just called File Manager

Samsung's default file manager likely can't reach the root directories. You'll need one that can like Root Explorer or ES file explorer to do so. You likely need to be rooted though in order to initiate a copy.

Man what a bummer, after the problems rooting caused on my S4, I don't even want to mess with that again.

As for the app, the file manager I use is from the play store, not stock

Ahh, I'd have to test what adb can do from the command line, but it may be possible to extract it out using that. I'll check into that when I get home from work.

I use an app called Myappsharer to back up my apps. Maybe it will work for you. You can find it in the play store.

Without a doubt, this post ranks way up on my Top Ten best.

I just sent a complete list off all the apps on my phone via email to myself.

Easy to go through that list and just copy/paste into a post to help someone else out.

Thanks!
