Annoying Securiry warning - please help

Papamz

Newbie
I get this pop-up box every second. It's made my phone virtually impossible to use. I have tried to cancel or download, nothing changes.

If you click the view button, does it reference the app? You have installed something that is trying to access a site with an invalid ssl certificate. If you can uninstall it, the warning will go away.

This is what get when I click on "view". I really can't figure out what needs to be uninstalled

It seems to happen only when I am connected to the internet, over wifi etc. Putting phone on airplane mode switches the pop-up off, until I reconnect then the message comes right back.

Okay, let's approach this from another direction. Did you download any wallpaper apps? What are the last few apps you've installed? I'd start removing apps one by one until you find the offending one.

I did what appeared as scheduled update on my phone last night. It took a while and updated a lot of my already existing apps. Will check if there are any new ones in the meantime

Interesting date on the certificate: issued November 2014. No wonder it's invalid. Doesn't help, but interesting.

Certificate issued by go daddy...
How about going to settings/more/security /trusted credentials and then show certificates and uncheck the godaddy certificates? I'm not sure if it will help, but easy to try it. It might even break some programs.. at least that would help narrow down to programs using godaddy certificates (the ones that malfunction after this)...one of those may be causing the problem

The pop-up is still there. This is another thing that pops up. It does not allow me to access my screens until I select one of the options displayed.

That just means you have two launchers installed and it's asking if you want to set one as default.

Just choose always on TouchWiz Launcher.

Also have you tried going to Settings > App > All > Search for GoDaddy and see if something comes up?

Juat ran the checks. It says that my device is free from malicious damage or something like that, buy the pop-up still persists. I might need to take it in at this rate.
I really appreciate all the help. Thank you

Can you please check the running apps?

We could go through that list and end those and see what happens. :)

It stopped for a little while and came back again. I stopped everything. Do you think that I might need to format the phone?

The certificate is issued by GoDaddy but that just means someone uses GoDaddy certificates, not that you should look for a GoDaddy app. Some app is connecting to the Internet and receiving that certificate. Start freezing or uninstalling apps, newest app first. You could skip apps that have no Internet permission.

Hi everyone. I think your advice worked. The pop-up has not popped up in at least 2 hours now. Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it. Xx

Anytime!

Glad we were able to freeze that app. Any idea which one it was? Just so in the future we can use this to help out other members? :)

Thanks!

Not a clue to be honest. I really wish I knew what it was. I tried so many things that I can't even pinpoint what it could have been. But I know that freezing the apps worked.
