I've had this problem too. Usually a reboot fixes it.
I'm still rooted using the towelroot method and installed 'BusyBox' right after that and I'm accessing perfectly well Google Playstore to download a few apps and update others already installed in my device, I've been able to send or receive emails, and reading the 'News' in the internet, and updating the weather conditions through a couple of apps for that matter. But I haven't uninstalled or touched anything related to system apps or the sort. Besides being rooted, I also fixed the read-only problem of the external SD Card that kikat introduced, and made a few tweeks here and there to optimized my device. I also installed Android Firewall to get rid of the ads of some free apps plus installed the app 'link2SD' to manage much better the storage area and with all these changes I still have no problems whatsoever, my battery even last longer and I get few more megabytes of RAM making my device much smoother and much more responsive. Bottom line if this root method had anything to do with your present problem I would still be facing the same issues, or maybe I was super lucky. Rooting have put a couple of wings to my device and I can't see myself going back to that straightjacket of unroot smartphones because of the freedom that rooting brings with it.Well it didn't I had to use LGs support tool and unroot my phone with SuperSU and upgrade recovery through their tool
edit: im not sure if the root may have caused this issue with the play store, therefor I'm unsure about re-rooting again :X
