A few questions ... noob here

Newbie
Hello all

I am new to Android phones and have a few ( or a thousand ) questions.

I just purchased a Galaxy S5. I have not received it yet so I figured its time to learn new tech.

I am coming from ios devices so bear with me

I think I can get all my photos and music from my iphone to my S5.

the confusion starts with apps. I see google play, android market, samsung galaxy apps and I dont know which does what ? I would prefer to purchase music via itunes and transfer to my phone as needed, but shopping for apps seems confusing.

can someone clarify ?

second is there a cloud service that is for android specific like icloud ?

thanks

Welcome to Android Forums cpc12. :)

The play store is pretty much like the app store. You browse for apps and install the ones you want. there's a lot of duplication between Amazon and Play (formerly the Android Market), but sometimes you can get a paid app for free on Amazon or at a greater discount. You can use both without issue.

Android has Google Drive or dropbox for cloud storage.

so for drop box where would I get the app from ?

so play is the new android market place ?

can you back up the phone to the cloud like icloud ?

is there a " best usb 3.0 car charger ?

can I use a micro usb 2.0 to charge the phone ?

Dropbox is available in the Play store

Yep.

It doesn't quite work like that. Samsung phones come with a utility called "Kies" which has mixed reviews. Android will back up your apps and settings for you, but you'll need to backup your data yourself. There are plenty of apps and options for that.

As long as the charger delivers sufficient current (usually 1 amp or more) you can use pretty much any charger.
