Root Messed up my Hydro XTRM - can anyone help?

Please help...

I kinda messed up. While I was attempting to solve the low storage problem on this phone (couldn't even update apps) I went through the following process.

- Rooted the phone (successfully)
- Ran a cleanup app to recover some space

The second step did something it should not have done. It removed ALL the .apk files in /system/app.

Now the phone is bootlooping, and I can't recover it since there is no recovery ROM.

Does anyone know of a ROM I can flash, and a process to do so?

Alternatively, is there... anywhere... a copy of the stock Android image for download, where I can get hold of the contents of the /system/app/*.apk files, so I can connect it to my PC and restore the files, maybe get this thing booting again.

Anyway... any help, advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated to get this thing recovered. I'm afraid I can't afford to replace it right now.

Many thanks in advance.
Jess

did you enable usb debugging ?

do you have adb access to this phone ?

Yeah. I mean I have a data cable and a PC. I've used adb to flash/reset mobiles before.

Never tried it with this device, but I imagine it's the same.

What I was lacking, back when I started this thread, was an image/ROM file to flash into the device.

I can only assume things haven't changed.

what I mean is, did you enable usb debugging on this phone before it got screwed up

if you did not, i dont see how you will be able to if you can not boot into android

if you are able to adb acess with root on this phone, i may be able to help you

As an aside, now that you figured out how to boot Philz, a nandroid backup of the factory image would be a great thing to have for this device.

I'd do it, but after rooting the phone, I immediately used Jumobile's System app remover to remove some of the MetroPCS crapware like MetroHome as well as Facebook and Chrome.

did you root and enable USB debugging before you bricked it

if I can get adb access I may be able to fix it

Yes I always enable it on all of me devices by force of habit is there any adb commands that I can use another thing that I was thinking about was using root explorer from some else rooted device and backing up there device system/apps folder then reentering it by reversing my steps though I do think it would have to be the same firmware as hardware doesn't really matter as it's all android aye

I don't really care about the apps just trying to fix my download manager and sound but some where by deleting some of the stock apps those two where affected I can even use the play store loads up but as soon as I try to download I get error codes and as far as we sites Downloading I get unfortunately download manager has stopped working

what do you mean you changed your boot loader images ?

Hi all.
I saw the response at the time regarding usb debugging, and my memory is that this is not enabled.
I then lost the handset. I just found it again, and it's obviously still boot looping... Is there anything I can do at all if I have not enabled usb debugging? I have never connected this device to a computer so I'm thinking I never got around to switching this on...

Any advice would be appreciated. It's a shame that this thing is sat being useless if it could be resurrected.
