Root [5.1.1][UNOFFICIAL] Paranoid Android 5.1 [12.30.2015]

hmm. wonder what i'm doing wrong.

I would try reinstalling stock, and then try flashing PA. If that doesn't work, try copying your SD contents to a safe place then format everything in CWM and try to flash PA. What recovery are you using? Are your problems on a clean install without making any changes? If so, that's odd. I tried a dirty install and then clean, and I have had no reboots or sluggishness after a few hours of using and checking out pretty much everything.

My thinking exactly, and it was just about what I was going to do. I went from CWM to TWRP yesterday, and I had a lot of issues making backups. I'm going to revert all the way back to stock, re-root, and try again.

Quiet Sunday to do all of this. Watch a little golf, do some laundry, and fiddle with my phone. :D

I've found SuperR's deodexed stock ROM is very useful for easily going back to stock, its already rooted and you just have to flash it. I've found problems with some TWRP versions and I think the latest PhilZ recovery works best. You just need to configure settings right to keep settings and time the way you want.

Yes, I actually use it all of the time. But once in a while I go all the way back... I am not really a fan of Philz, I find its user touch interface a little too "twitchy" and too quick to do stuff I don't want to do. I'll use CWM for now, it's what I am used to. Updating Stock to KitKat now. Will be trying the new PA soon, I really prefer it over all of the other roms.

I know what you mean with PhilZ but if you change the touch sensitivity and the width of the lines, it seems to work a little smoother and your less likely to press something accidentally. I believe there is an option to confirm before executing anything. And I agree, too prefer this rom. It seems the only bugs are simple things like camera and WiFi tether. My 3G signal is better on this ROM also. On others I only get one bar and switches to 1X all the time at my house. I have 3 bars most of the time on this.

Yeah, I know I can adjust the settings in Philz, but CWM is squeaky clean, like this rom.

Update:

Fully reverted back to stock, upgrade to KitKat, re-install CWM and root, and install latest PA.

I'm still getting the soft reboot boot loops... like stated in my prior posts. I'll try beta 1 and see if the issue persists.

Update 2: Re-installed Beta 1 and not having any of the issues described in my prior posts from today.

I'm aware of the bugs in BETA 2, new Chromium platform I have to build off of with the "L" incorporation beginning. There is nothing I can do about them for now.

If you want stable and fully featured, stick with BETA 1.

Thanks...

I just wanted to report... Beta 1 works petty well. I have had only a few minor hiccups so long as I have been using it since it was released.

Is there another channel through which you would like info related?

I have a Google Hangouts set up, give me your g mail and I can add you to it.

Hey bro! Dropping in to see the happenings over here to help my friend out in checking the phone. Good to see U doing so badass, @Seraph08

So I followed all the steps and it flashed just fine. But as soon as I tried to do something (anything in that matter) it would soft-reboot all by itself. I can't even use the phone for 30 seconds before it does it again. What might be causing it?

Me too, and there's a thread where someone installed PA and he got stuck in a boot loop but reinstalling stock didn't make it go away. I think this may be an issue with the latest one? Idk. You can get out and into fastboot/recovery if you hold down power and volume down.

@Seraph: Love this, want it to work. But can't get away from the boot loop. My phone/process at least, idk if it's specific phones or what. Boost Mobile Moto G XT1031, using TWRP, reset and cleared factory. Installed latest (8/24) PA, then full GApps, bootanim fix, mms fix. After doing a soft reboot I got stuck into a boot loop.

I've been running the 8/23 build since last night and have had no boot loops or even random reboots. The only problem so far was camera, had to flash old camera libs. WiFi tether works on this build too now. I have Boost Mobile XT1031, PhilZ recovery and Liquid GApps 4.4.4 build 6. Everything is fine even after installing Xperience -13 kernel about an hour ago. I meant the 8/24 build.

When you say reset and cleared factory, do you mean you only used the factory reset option in TWRP? Also what ROM did you have installed before you installed this ROM?

That's what I do. Plus, I format system under advanced settings, is there more to it? I have always just factory reset, format system, wipe cache, wipe dalvik and then flash a new rom. My reboots started happening after I flashed BETA 2, then back to BETA 1 and then I flashed stock and still had reboot issues. Except it hasn't rebooted since 2pm today, so maybe it was an app I had installed because I deleted every app manually and installed the ones I really wanted to keep.
