Root Safe to lock boot loader again?

Hello, I rooted my phone using towelroot, and then I installed bootunlocker from the play store.
Now that I have a custom recovery installed and already downloaded xposed framework, is it OK to lock the bootloader again? I would do this using the boot unlocker app.

Also can anyone tell me any xposed modules I can use to change my status bar and navigation bar? I really want them pink, lol, but am afraid if I download too many modules I may cause problems. I wouldn't want to brick my nexus, I'm sure my husband wouldn't like that.

You'll need to re-un-lock it before updating recoveries, and you won't be able to flash things through fastboot without it unlocked.

For xposed modules... One of the best for tweaking the status bar and navi bar is Gravity Box which you can find here.- [APP][KK][XPOSED] GravityBox v3.4.3 - tweak … | Xposed General | XDA Forums

You can run multiple Xposed modules at one time.. You just don't want them conflicting each other in the settings that you choice for the modules and overriding each others settings and or canceling out the setting that your trying to modify.

Just Make sure that you have a stock or unmodified nandroid backup as a precaution is case you get a boot loop using the xposed modules and can safely restore the device to the previous state, like before applying the xposed modules.

As Experts said... You can relock the bootloader, but there really is no need to, unless you just want to relock it. I personally find it easier to keep the BL unlocked to update recoveries and or use fastboot commands if you get into a jam and need to recover your device. Plus there's really no down side to having the BL in an unlocked state.

Another alternative is to look at some of the custom ROMs available for the N5... A lot of them, like Dirty Unicorns have these features built in and integrated into the ROM and will not require you to download and/or install xposed framework or the modules to make the changes that you are looking for. You can achieve these tweaks directly through the ROMs settings.

Thank so much for the help. I downloaded gravity box and I'm enjoying it a lot.

Is it known to cause battery drain? As that's the only issue I'm having. Either way its great. Again thank you.

You're Welcome!
It shouldn't cause any heavy battery drain... Although you can't rule out that option as it is definitely possible.

First I would try a full reboot of the device. I know that when you install GB most likely you performed a "Soft Reboot" of the device. I believe that somewhere during the soft reboot something doesn't get initialized properly and that may cause unexpected behavior and cause battery drain.

You may want to even install Better Batter Stats or Wakelock Detector from the playstore and see if there is something keeping the device awake or a rouge app that's causing the battery drain.

If the above doesn't work, make sure that your using the most current version or GB and/or you might want to try a different/older version of GB and see if the battery drain is still present.

The only advantage of locking the bootloader would be related to data security. Unless the device is encrypted, a thief could get their hands onto the data on the stolen phone (with unlocked bootloader) using ADB commands

Encryption should help thwart that effort to a good extent.
