Root, backup and clear Chinese bloat
I hope to keep this brief, simple and effective :)
The information was attained from multiple guides, tested and regurgitated. Thanks :smokingsomb:. I already turned this post into a mess, so I've trimmed it up.

1. Factory Reset, skip setup, check USB Debugging is Enabled (dev options) and Allow Unknown Sources (security)
2. Download SP Flashtools at (http://www.needrom.com/download/tutorial-mt65xx-flashing/) and the SP_Drivers_vx.xxxx.rar drivers linked in the description. Extract with WinRAR to a folder on desktop, name it what you like
3. Install the drivers. On Windows 7; start Device Manager > select *PC Name* on list > click 'Action' up top > 'Add legacy hardware' > Next > 'Install the hardware... (advanced)' and 'Next' > 'Show All Devices' and Next > 'Have Disk...', browser to where you extracted the SP_Drivers (currently included in SP Flashtools zip) and select the "android_winusb.inf". Complete these steps, allowing the installation for drivers available in SP_Drivers. Most important are the MediaTek DA USB VCOM and MediaTek Preloader drivers
4. Download the following files to your sdcard and install on phone:
Framaroot (http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/framaroot/root-Framaroot-one-click-apk-to-root-t2130276)
Mobileuncle MTK Tools (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697236)
Custom recovery of choice (*.img file ~5-6mb)
SuperSU recovery installable zip (http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu)
5. Open Framaroot on your phone, root with Barahir and restart
6. Download MTK Droid Root & Tools (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49597819&postcount=922) or (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160490) and extract to your desktop folder. Connect phone via USB and get root. Make a backup of IMEI/NVRAM. Under 'root, backup...' click Backup, wait till it's done and pack it if you wish.
7. Open Mobileuncle and flash custom recovery (put the recovery.zip at the root of sdcard)
8. Boot into recovery (Volume Up + power -or- Vol Up on reboot) and install the new SuperSU. When rebooting phone allow recovery to do its own SuperSU magic
9. After booting normally, allow the installation of SuperSU from notification. Choose Normal mode to install
10. Get the ES File Manager APK, install it as a system app and use it to remove system apps with Root Explorer mode. You can use it to install apps as a system app by setting the correct file permissions too (something to google). It can install itself as a system app.
11.
Install BusyBox via play store or a downloaded.

Access Recovery via GravityBox power menu option -or- 'Volume Up + Power' or simple 'Volume Up' on reboot.

Removed from stock 0.8.5, system apps:
* Configured as user app (except Nova Launcher) and set as default, before strip:
1. Nova Launcher replaced Launcher2 (download "/system/app mover" and use to move "com.teslacoilsw.launcher-1.apk" to system/app)
2. Kii Keyboard replaced baiduinput and LatinIME
3. CM Browser replaced Browser and UCBrowser
4. ES File Explorer File Manager replaced FileManager
5. MX Player replaced both VideoPlayer and Music (with music option)
* A factory reset will result the loss of these user apps unless they are made a system app. Kii Keyboard does not like being a system app, but Nova Launcher seems to work fine.

WIP post. Sorry if something here is false or doesn't actually solve anything. It is Work In Progress...

Battery Drain?

1. With v0.8.5, it seems (to me) that Auto-brightness was chewing the juice. Turn off Auto-Brightness.
2. Turn off 'Google Settings > Location > Location Reporting'
3. Get Unbounce - Root Xposed (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ryansteckler.nlpunbounce). And let it keep NlpWakeLock and NlpCollectorWakeLock under control

Reinstate fresh Google Apps:

1. Download "gapps-jb-20130812-signed.zip" from (http://www.teamandroid.com/gapps/), found under 'Gapps CyanogenMod 10.2'
2. Copy the gapps zip to sdcard
3. Boot into recovery
4. Make a full backup with recovery
5. Flash gapps zip from sdcard
6. Wipe cache and dalvik
7. Reboot system

Faster GPS?

1. Turn GPS options on
2. Install FasterGPS (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.fastergps)
3. Change to your region with FasterGPS
4. Re-download the EPO
5. Don't stress, lol

Google Maps closes on startup:
The symptom; Maps app closes 2 or 3 times (at least once) on starting the app, before it will function
Fix:
Download Google Maps v8.0.0, install the APK and turn off your Play Store automatic updates.

Performance:

Out of the box the performance is great. Antutu Benchmark 5 gave a 19k+ score, before any tweaking. It's very close to 20k points.
My mates old Samsung Galaxy S3 got only 22k points that same day and he was rather impressed with the value.
I've got no regrets buying this phone, even though there seems to be a bug with the battery remaining indication and the notification LED is excessively bright... looking for someway of changing that brightness, but not sure if possible.

What about the overheating I heard it has a big problems with overheating when watching movies or play games.
Also how much does the battery last when GPS is turned on?

I've had no problem with heat. Generally playing Dead Trigger 2 for a good bit results in something like 60-70 degrees as reported by Clean Masters Memory Boost function.

The battery is OK. I've got both GPS (all options), WiFi enabled and screen brightness on Auto (edit: WAS) while testing. The 3rd post above I got about 27 hours with 6 hours in 1.3ghz state. But, as others have found too, it normally drains fast down to 1% and can still get a couple hours playing Dead Trigger 2. Not a huge problem, some may like that indication.

Hi, i've recently purchased JIAYU G2F MTK6582 from minideal . Trying to erase some chinese applications i,accidentally, erased a major application too (via Link2sd). Now, i am having a difficulty in recovering my phone. I tried to install the corresponding Rom (G2FW-20140606-W-R-CN-V0.8.5 ) through sdcard (firstly i made a format at partitions etc.) with no result though. After rebooting it shows only "JIAYU".
Also sdcard (with sp tools, rom etc), cannot be detected through pc (windows 8).

Please could you tell me what should i do?

Hi jeronimo13,
Did you tried to install the rom from sdcard using recovery,?
Try useing SP Flashtool and get the rom from needrom (need to register). Make sure it is the WCDMA version... or is yours the TD-SCDMA version?
WCDMA version at http://www.needrom.com/download/jiayu-g2fw/
TD-SCDMA version at http://www.needrom.com/category/jiayu/g2f/

1. Factory reset... actually just pull the battery... in fact, if you haven't tried, replace the battery and see if it boots...
2. Install the drivers. On Windows 8, you may want to look for other drivers if SP Flashtools fails to connect to your switched off mobile phone
3. Use SP Flashtools to 'Download' the correct firmware, using the included scatter file included in the zip you downloaded. *extract the zip on your PC

Unfortunately, If you delete a system app without a backup, you will have to download and inject the apk. Otherwise, if you don't want to inject a foreign apk, it is best to flash clean with SP Flashtools and be more careful next time :)

WCDMA version at ROM JIAYU G2FW | [Official] add the 08/03/2014 on Needrom
TD-SCDMA version at ROMs | G2F

Thank you for your answer! :)
I have the WCDMA 2100 version.
I tried to install the rom using recovery but it showed "installation aborted".

Other apk like JY-G2F_recovery (WCDMA) aren't recognisable using recovery.
Actually, sdcard isn't identified by the pc when it is placed in the phone through usb connection, and so i can't use sp flash tools!

it seems that a MTP USB Device driver must be installed but i haven't found any way to do this yet...

Is there any viable solution (except for opening it and using a screwdriver), or should i send it back to minideal?

Don't know why you even need an sdcard. The firmware you download needs to be extracted to a folder on your PC and the scatter loaded from the PC.

Please try find both MediaTek DA USB VCOM and MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM drivers for Windows 8, if the Win7 compatible one I've listed still doesn't play nice.

Make sure phone has had battery pulled for the 30 seconds, battery replaced and phone LEFT OFF (powered OFF) and connected to PC.
Only after clicking Downloaded and loading that scatter.

Sorry if we can't resolve this.

It's not your fault, it's clearly mine!:alberteinstein:
I have the drivers installed (even if a yellow triangle is displayed on them at the device manager)
I followed the procedure you have written above (up to step 7)
I had to re-plug after step 7..it's loading! :)

"Read back" (step 7) is completed.

I trasfered the files to the sdcard through a laptop because the pc won't recognise the phone.

The phone itself recognise only the "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02" file.
what's next?
Should i flash something else?

Everything is fine!
i used sp flash tool to upgrade firmware and it launched after booting up.
Thanks for the guide!! ;)

The only issue is that all the apps and software files are saved at the sdcard (not in the phone's memory). How 's that?
It's very convenient though, but can i transfer them to the phone just like that, without any impact on the phone's functionality?

Your system files would be installed to internal system partition. Apps should be installed to the Data partition. If you have the option 'Settings > Storage > Preferred install location' st to SD card or when a large app is installed, the app may be installed to the sdcard.

I'll have to edit the original post here to detail flashing procedure with SP flashtool.

Wow!

Sorry to bump my ramblings here, but I've got to point out the effectiveness of Unbounce (version 1.4.1). Yeah, I say it big, cause this thing has really increased my G2FW's battery life (in current trial) by knocking location wakelocks and alarms on the head.

Even if you haven't got the Jiayu G2F, but have Android JB 4.2.2... hell, anything higher than ICS 4.0.4, I highly recommend getting root (superuser) access and installing it on with the Xposed Framework.

What it has seemed to do for me mostly, is preventing continuous usage of 'com.google.location.process' by Google Bookmarks Sync and Google Contacts Sync both while awake and sleep. I guess that is the unbounce alarm function working its magic on location. Only guessing. Hope to god this battery life sticks, cause it really has seemed to make a difference.

As of writing this; version 1.5.1 was renamed LiOn Tamer. It has a major flaw in that it random reboots the phone. You may also miss phone calls, and be only notified later by missed call service. Don't use v1.5.1, instead download v1.4.1 with Xposed Framework. These reboots also occur on other devices, not just Jiayu G2F.

Wondering if anyone can shine some knowledge on this;

Currently OS Monitor is reporting Google Account Manger to be using ~20-35% CPU usage, constantly (randomly) with the process 'com.google.process.location'.

CPU time is 125 minutes. Seems to be running for a good while now, every time I check it. I've got Unbounce installed that seems to be handling location wakelock and alarm, but this location process continually raises to question, either under 'Google Contacts Sync', Google Bookmarks Sync' or as mentioned 'Google Account Manager'.

The battery seems to be holding OK. Am wondering if it this behavior (holding a 20-30% CPU use with location process) is normal? Please advise.
