Root [Boost Mobile] Tri-Band S3 (SPH-L710T)

I'm not new to flashing haha I used to have everything possible done to my sprint LGg2. Its just that this phone is so under developed as far as rooting and roms and such. But conquest solved my problems. Just wanted to stay stock. But after I flashed a sprint Rom it booted up playing a different sound and didn't show the boost boot images anymore. And I couldn't trim videos or share them or pictures even, just kind of made some stuff in my rom bug out. I was hoping for a way to go back to stock and wait for this phone to have a little better support before I come back to development. You were a big help though for recommending conquest. Love it!

Well, I have been with boost mobile for a while now, but I finally moved back up to an S3 on their network. (Had one before, under T-Mobile) I thought I had a SPH-L710, but I have a SPH-L710T.
Knowing that, I learned a few things I don't want other people to have to learn like I did.
These little tid-bits being posted to the world, I hope I have helped someone out there.

I just wanted to help you brutha
with whatever I can dig up for you and everyone
would this be any use to you good sir?

This is exactly what my phone looks like in the white would this suggest
that I have this model of phone? I know there are many variants of this model.
samsung_galaxy_s_iii_lte.jpg

Because I have been using the d2roms for sprint

I don't have the blue one I'm just guessing that the color doesn't make difference but could someone help me clear this up on how to tell the differences between the 2 I'am sure would help clean up allot of the confusion others just like my self is having. I know it sounds like a rookie question but I did see in here about just go into about phone and if it is there it will show >>> But I also know that I can access this infor and change it to whatever name of phone I want it to say...
so once the rom hits the phone it could suggest that it's a T version and not being so ??
besides from that is more less I guess would be the question I'am after is all no biggy... :D
All I know is wicked x, hyperdrive, carbon, works on my phone <<<with this being said would this suggest that my phone is not Triband?

Thank you Sir Keep the good coming Im glad and proud to see your making progress and I'm only here to help.
If I can find out anything else I will continue to like help...:D:D:D:D:D:D

I am trying to un root the S3 L710T and return to stock recovery.

that there is confusion to other members but with heavy progress from others over this topic because theres another phone that is the [L710]not triband.. :D wish u well thank you.

There is an easy way to find out if you have a triband phone. Look under the battery. There is a sticker in the battery bay with the phone model and other information. It will give the model of the phone as a L710T if its a triband. L710 if it is not a triband.

The triband modems are different too. NON triband Boost phones have the NDC modem (baseband). Non triband owners also have the option to change over to the Sprint ND8 modem if they are running a custom kernel.

"through the watchful eye of the biker". ;) all smiles thank you good sir.
Even the easiest thing can appear to me to be hardest If i failed and over looked i felt it to be perfect responce to my rookie mistake when all i had to do was look under the battery..:D:D:D:D:D:D
Now I know for sure I'm in the clear over my mistakes n confusion.:D:D:D:D:D:D:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::beer:

I would never choose to say otherwise .
As for I felt that was the strongest compliment I could give anyone .
Iam for sure that was the best answer to all my questions. Thank you sir for everything.. :D:D:D:D

Yup... friend has rooted triband ( via philz recovery), stock.

Says it works great!

Its $2.50, but if you only need tether, and until a stable rom that's ready to go outta box that allows tethering, its a cheap alternative.

Alert me if these fail please.
I'm working on some things at the moment in regards to making a custom patch to flash, porting & building for the d2lterefreshspr (boost).
-- dream big;)

EDIT: btw just tested the kernel on a custom rom for the a non-triband model & it fixes the landscape rotation issues. no more flipped inversion.
Curious what changes are in this to fix rotation issue. Or is this just the stock kernel? Gonna try and flash conquest on my friends phone, then this kernel.

Glad you guys are makin headway on this variant.

Thanks again!

If you can get into Philz then you're OK. Just look through this thread and find one of the Custom ROMs the triband owners are able to run. Another option is to find the Stock triband Samsung file and use Odin to flash it. That will put you back at stock.

I'm not running the triband. Give some of these guys time to reply to your post. Some of these triband owners know the phone well and can help you get your phone up and running with a stock ROM if you decide you don't want to flash a custom ROM.

Again, read through this thread and see what custom ROMs can be ran on the triband S3. That is the quickest way to get your phone back up and running right now.

Best of luck.

Wetbiker is right .

Thank you all! I'm about to flash the "save my ass zip" I found, to get my phone back and running, for now. Hopefully works. I'm still looking for Samsung Triband stock. Once again, thanks for all the hard work you guys are doing!

Unzip the file you download.

DO NOT UNZIP the folder inside tho. Odin needs that one zipped.

Hope it works. Let us know.

Big file... somethin like a gig and a half I think. Saved my phone.

Damn. Was hopin it worked on this model too. Was worth a shot.

So, what exactly is the current state of your phone? Does it boot? Do you have a rom running?

I had a cheap phone once, that I used a nandroid from another phone. The trick was, I had to view the nandroid and open the md5 folder. There were 2 files. I had to delete them but KEEP the folder.

Once that was done, I could run the nandroid thru recovery like normal.

My concern is if you wiped your efs. Im not sure this model is developed enough to recover from that yet, but im no expert.

Hope you get it all workin bro.

He mentioned he was still able to access Philz earlier so that's good news.
