This is my first post, but I have had one of the 710t phones with virgin mobile for about 4 days now and have been facing issues discussed here and elsewhere. First off, I want to thank EVERYONE on all forums I have checked, ESPECIALLY this one for ultimately solving my issues.
Here is what I did that screwed the phone up in the first place.
Rooted no problems
installed "universal" Hyperdrive rom and rebooted
It was at this point that I started having problems with system processes crashing, landscape orientation screwed up, camera upside down in landscape, no cell service.
I installed slimkat and the cyanogen mod and limped along for a few days with basic cellular service restored. Restored Mobile network and lte service by manually setting the carrier apn. Samsung does not have the setting accessible for this, but there are apps in the google play store that allow the user to manually set this.
I found that the landscape issues were getting on my nerves and got sick of manually setting the rotation through an app.
HERE IS THE FIX THAT WORKS.
Flash the stock backup posted on this thread through recovery. I did this through Clockwork mod.
-download all files
-place them on the sd card in clockwork/backup/StockRestore
(you can use any foldername you like for StockRestore, but if there is a space in the name you get the md5 checksum error)
-blank the nandroid.md5 contents
-run restore from sdcard1, select the StockRestore folder
-boot to system and verify screen rotation issue fixed
Stock restore is now complete. I encountered some processes crashing, but the landscape view was repaired. Also, the launch screen is from Sprint, don't be alarmed when you see this.
Flashing the custom rom and kernel fix
-download conquest singularity from xda and place in root of sd card
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2774902
-download ktoonsez 4.4 touchwiz kernel fix and place in root of sd card
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871946
-boot phone into recovery
-select install zip from sdcard1
-install conquest zip
-immediately afterwords install the touchwiz kernel fix
(I ran these seperately. I do not know if this will work on a batch install)
-reboot phone and enjoy.
If you cannot connect to your network, or the phone connects but mobile data does not, look up the carrier's apn settings on the computer and then download an app through the playstore that allows you to manually set the apn.
As to the bootloop issue, I ran into this and solved it by booting into recovery and reinstall the last rom you used that worked correctly, or do a stock restore as I listed above and that should solve the problem.
