Android Question

hi, i have a coolpad8750 and i can not use google play or any apps from there including google maps. I want to change my phone to a Weiimi MTK6595, can anyone help me to find out if i can use google apps on this android phone. I have asked the chinese vendor but he does not know. Thanks

Chinese telephones....Google is banned China and so Androids here don't have it, and a Chinese vendor may not know much about it either. To make Google work on one of these things, you might have to root it, flash a custom recovery, and then flash Google apps package as system, and for the Weiimi there's no information on this whatsoever. Their site is only in Chinese, and they're not selling internationally, so no information about Google on there. http://www.weiimi.com/ (Chinese only) Send it back for a refund is my best advice. Same with the Coolpad, that's only sold in China, so there's no information about that one either.

Some Chinese phones it's quite easy to install Google and there's plenty of information available in English, which are Oppo, Meizu, Xiaomi, Vivo, Koobee and Gionee that I know of. And they do international versions of some of their phones that already have Google on them.

thanks for the reply, but i am not very techee. can you tell me where i might find out how to "root it" and load the new softwear?

For the two Chinese phones you mentioned, the Coolpad and the Weiimi, there is no information for them about installing Google, nothing that I can find. Rooting means you're gaining system access, so you can modify the phone's firmware(Android), which is required to install Google. They often have their own particular ways of achieving this, as well as specially built software tools sometimes. Things like recoveries may have to be specially built for a particular device. Even if you do have the information, methods and tools, frequently it's not without risk, of irreparably damaging the phone's firmware, rendering it useless (bricked) Those phones are only officially available in China, where I am.

With certain other brands and models like Oppo, Xiaomi and Meizu, they do sell them internationally, and there is comprehensive information about them in English on the manufacturer's own forums, and also here on AF.
