Help Boost volume

My "Made in Gone Wrong" mPie dual sim phone is excellent.....however I am a frequent flyer and get bored looking out the window for 2 hours at a time.
I have recently downloaded some films to watch whilst flying. Firstly with earphones. To hear, I had to press the earphones into my ears and that wasn't ideal. On the return trip I had some headphones that in a way were worse, the engines drowned out the dialogue.
I've considered volume booster apps but most it seems don't work on feedback.
I cant see how to download the films any louder to compensate. If I put the volume to max on the phone it warns me of permanent ear damage.......seeing as I can't hear it I don't think it's an issue.
Anyone else have this situation and overcome it?
Also, my films invariably have subtitles on the PC but don't appear on the phone screen...that would help!

I get to the part in the video where it says switch "Root explorer" on. I press to switch on but that is when i get the failure message and it returns to "off".

skynet11; As I said it's a "Made in Gone Wrong" i.e. Chinese copy of a mainstream Android phone. I have also tried Towelroot. It said my phone not supported.

Did you go into sound settings and see if there's an option to disable safe headset volume, or did you already try that to no avail?

There are only preset profiles (general, silent, outdoor etc) and no individual settings except the up/down on the phone side. There is no control over the headphone operation.

What earphones or earbuds are you actually using? Not cheapo tinny things that came with this device? If so, try something decent, that can seal out the background engine noise, look at brands like Shure, Audio Technica or Sony.

Hi Mikedt: I was using Sony with a wide range input. In order for them to work I had to press them into my ears. They were better than the headphones but marginally.
