Help Lost Contacts when Migrating

Snowboarder

Lurker
Last night I moved my data from my Desire (Froyo) to my Moto G 2nd Gen (Kitkat) using Motorola's Migrate program.
My issue is:
-not all contacts/friends made it across
-some groups made it with contacts, some made it empty and some didn't make it

Both phones were synched to Google (I think. I'm not on top of synching)

Any suggestions?

PLEASE DISREGARD. I found a solution. Not sure how to delete this message

Check your contacts on Gmail from your pc - that is the true source of what you have that ought to sync directly.

Assuming that what you're missing is physically stored in your HTC, go to it, People, and the next step depends on your Sense version but poke around, it goes something like this -

Menu, manage contacts, export (choose to storage or sd), choose source (Sim or storage or do it for each one), say no to password if asked - you'll get a vCard file ending in vcf.

Send to your pc - mail it to yourself, whatever.

Back to Gmail contacts on your pc. Usually under other action drop down, find the import option - use the tool to upload the vcf file (or files).

Back to contacts on your Gmail pc when done, delete all duplicates.

Sounds hard - it's really not and it is THE bulletproof way to ensure that you get all of your contacts in one place - your Gmail account.

Go to your new phone, sync contacts, boom, done.
