Android/iOS

iPhones are great, but most of the followers are complete idiots. Either bored wives who couldn't do anything in life so need something to show off, or insecure teenage girls/college girls who need something to make themselves feel better.

I own an iPhone and a nexus 4 and I love how stable my iphone is, but apple slows down their older iphones intentionally with random animation delay loops in the code of their new updates - just look at this thread here, 1 guy actually says "hey iphone 6 with 1gb ram in 2014 isn't right" and the entire apple community tears into him. Also they area about frequent updates with minimal product life - which is why the iphone 6 (just release few months ago) has only 1gb ram, in the coming years the new ios will probably slow down iphone 6, then make an iphone 7 with 2gb ram.... yeah its great business, and the vanity addicts will follow it no problem, but it makes me just lose respect for them as a company and as people.

i just see and think about all this and it makes me so angry, but there's nothing i can do about it, and wants us to feel upset, so we gotta just push it all away, and let them sort themselves out because we can't change other people, we can only control ourselves. and 100 years from now we will be dead and none of this will matter, so don't dwell on all the bs from the idiots there, just ignore them because they bought their apple devices for attention, so if you just ignore them then they will die out like a tree without water.

when they say "yeah...i just got the new iphone 6plus, i thought about the 6, but when i saw the 6 plus i had to get it" - just ignore them or walk away politely, and if you can't just change the subject without acknowledging their phone even once. dont say anything bad about it or good about it, just act like you don't care, that will be the most effective.

true friends dont make you feel like shit when you are around them, its better to have 0 friends than friends who make u feel like shit. its better to be single for life, than to be with a girl who makes your life hell.

There might be some resentment against Android owners as well, brands like Vertu.
The thing with Vertu is that only a few phone nerds like us would recognise one. Most people would just think "that is one ugly phone!" ;)

Wild, sweeping and derogatory generalisations like this undermine any point you are trying to make before you've even started, and are precisely the sort of thing that the OP was saying (correctly) is completely unnecessary. If fanboism pisses you off, don't lower yourself to the same level.

In China and other SE Asian countries, Vertu is quite a recognized brand for lux, and therefore expensive. While there's only one Vertu store in the whole of North America, in NYC, Vertu got 20+ stores in Beijing.

It's like Patek, they actually sell most of their $10,000+ watches in China. And like the watches, many lesser and more shady dealers will sell you a knock-off Vertu Constellation or something. Goldvish phones are often counterfeited as well. So can pretend to be rich, and some people do. There was actually a sort of game going on, on social networks, like Weibo, basically "Spot the expensive watch." on govt. photos. And in fact there was even photoshopping going on, to remove the Pateks, Rolexs, etc. from wrists. But now many former govt. people are serving time doing hard labour for corruption.

The iPhone 6 and 6+ is $1,000+ in this country, and only relatively few, more affluent people can actually afford one. Certainly the peeps who actually make the things can't. So don't be surprised if there's some resentment and jealousy around, about iPhones, Macs, etc. However it does mean that they do hold their value very well, can still get a good price for a second hand iPhone 4, even 3GS. It's actually the same in many emerging markets, Russia, India, etc. @Stinky Stinky made the comparison to "Gucci shoes" and Apple iPhone in South Africa a while back.

I for one can not stand apple products. Users are not free to do what they want with them. Simply for example my sister in law has a 16 gig ipod phone 6 and my wife has an 64 gig ipod phone 6. So you get it home then you realize your OS ate up part of your 16 gigs. Now you only have 13 gigs and you can not expand it.

Ipod phone users were jumping up and down saying look my phone has 128 gigs that is way more than any android. I have 160 on my M8. I paid less and I have IR and front stereo speakers... Also when i switch phones i can move my memory card to the next phone if i choose. I dont know of a single feature that iphone 6 has that i dont on my M8. I couldn’t handle the standardization of the ipod phone but there are a lot of people that just own a phone to talk on it and send text messages and never learn how to use it. Those are not usually the people on these forums.

I heard rashes in strange areas.. are your specialty.

stand back everyone! hazmat is coming to quarantine your area.

All i can say is that i started loving Android when i got my Galaxy SIII. I just love the way Samsung makes it work and look. After iOS 7 ended up being horrible crap i was done. Samsung phones are like my old Nokia 5185i a decade ago-- no matter what i try later on, i.e., LG G3, Lucid 3, iPhone 4, 4S, 5S, 3GS, Nexus, etc, i keep coming back to Samsung, just like when i tried all manner of color screen phones from Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, etc, i kept coming back to the 5185i. Something about a UI/UX that matches me perfectly while being easy to use, familiar, and working perfectly fine and not having to change at the drop of a hat and suddenly be frustrating, and me having to learn everything over again (i hate change there i said it) just works for me. that was why i was originally an Apple person--iOS never changed. but when it did, the closest and most familiar UX was Samsung's TouchWiz Nature UX. similar look/feel but better. it might get tons of hate but i find it nice and fits me perfectly. after i discovered it on a Galaxy Tab 2 tablet i got the SIII and now have both a Note 3 and S4. I know Samsung pulled an Apple and ruined TouchWiz and made it look all iOS 7-y but I'm not forced to get the S5, S6, or Note 4. Quite frankly i don't like the Note 4 one bit--all the charming Nature UX features are gone. the device looks like a regress and is now less stunning visually. the speaker is regressed to the back again. the screen size remains the same as does the RAM, despite every succeeding Note being better and larger than the last one. Doesn't bother me though, unlike Apple, the app store won't cease to function and apps don't have to be mandatory-rule to update to the crap flat design that Google is pulling.

I HATE CUSTOM UI's. Sorry, but the on UI's I like is stock, emotion UI, and cyanogenmod UI(basicly stock)...
The crap Google is pulling...
EDIT: Is yee not humble?;)

To be fair, the OS ate up part of the storage on your android too, and in some cases a lot more than the example you quote above (recent 16GB Samsung flagships leave the user less than 10GB).

Your M8 (and the Samsungs I mentioned above) has SD card expansion, but while that is good for media it isn't for apps, so it's a complement to internal storage rather than an alternative. But many android phones also do not have that; someone buying a 16GB Nexus would be in a very similar situation to your 16GB iPhone buyer.

Lol I despise touchwiz!
That is your right, just as it's Nick's right to like it. The fact that you have a choice is the important point.

And i choose to have features and a UI i can stand to look at and which doesn't change whenever Google thinks it's time to. I probably use 99% of the Samsung apps/services, including the nifty remote control app. Which Google thinks is too much to include an IR blaster on the Nexus 6.

Aside the missing features, i hate having to relearn where Google hid some feature and accidentally trigger unwanted gestures by mistake since they feel tapping or using physical buttons is passe now. If i can count on one hand the number of times i lost my weather card on Android Wear...

Then there are the limits of Google apps. you cannot change the theme of Hangouts. you either accept Google's look or use another app. the Gmail app does not offer custom sync scheduling, their music player seems to require constant connection to the cloud 24/7 (those on unlimited data might not understand). Google Now even today can only do 1/3 what S-Voice can do.

If anything, Google is more like Apple what with their limited apps and missing features than you lead on. (Samsung of course is the reason Android is #1 while Nexus still sells poorly so apparently the hate of TouchWiz is actually minor.)

Quite frankly i consider Google apps bloatware. i find them frustrating to use and missing functions i desire. Thank goodness i don't have to accept Google's view of what Android should be and have options provided by Samsung. I just wish i didn't need to root my S4 to gain back the few hundred MB that Google apps chew up even in their frozen state.

In a way i find Apple worshippers every bit as annoying as those who think that the only way Android should be like is Google's way. seriously what is the point of Open-Source again? and what is it with the insistence that every choice Google makes is always the right choice? OK i'm wrong. i actually find the Google clan more annoying. omg! Android phones should be stock ONLY! Samsung is killing GOOGLE's vision of Android! (yet Samsung sells more Galaxies than Google does Nexii) METAL PHONES RULLLZ!

Touche. These kind of generalisations make just as much sense as saying "people with blue t-shirts are all idiots who just follow the trends..." Remember that for most people, phones, tablets, computers whatever are just tools they have to use to get certain things done, they are not interested in the devices or operating systems, apps or functions at all.

Live and let live.

Problem with this statement, it presupposes that people are sat inside in front of their PCs. Maybe it's old fashioned? Since most of us now have smart-phones and always on Internet, one can be a keyboard warrior from anywhere.
