College: My tutor is an idiot

Well I just wanted to rant. I was a but pissed off. My tutor wants the power to kick people off the course. If that happens I'm ****ed really.Shouldn't this be in the "positive talk" thread?
Good luck. Too many in that position (tutor, ta, etc.) let a modicum of power go to their head. Try not to take it personally and carry an extra pen. Maybe you'll get lucky and see the tutor do that to someone else, and your can offer them your spare pen.
That kind of revenge is always sweet.
How often are the classes interrupted by people arriving late? If this is a rare occurrence then yes, the tutor was being a prat. If he gets a dozen of these every class then frankly I would understand him wanting to make an example, even if it sucks that it was you.
I've been both sides: I've been teaching and had students roll up in the middle of the class, and I've been the student who forgot the class was on and turned up 40 minutes late and out of breath - I understood entirely why my tutor wasn't impressed with that!

It's a very rare occurrence. So basically I completely missed the first lesson and didn't have a clue what I was doing.
On the upside my computer had a problem connecting to the server so I had (almost) no limitations on my account
so first class?? of the semester?
I guess he wanted to make and example.. so that the rest of the semester. students will NOT be late.. and forget stuff.
kind of like.. first time you walk into a tuff yard / school.
find the strongest.. start a fight.
even if you loose.. no one will want to start crap with you.. unless they mean to be serious.
bright side:
good excuse to talk to the cute girl... ask for notes.. and update on what happen in class.
setup study sessions with... get her info.
turn this to an opportunity !

That's college life frankly. Some professors care very much about how seriously you take the class. Others don't give a hoot about anything except assignments being completed and tests being taken. I often found that the ones who wanted your butt in your seat on time were teaching the early morning classes. 
I had a Tuesday evening Finance class that lasted 3 hours every week. I already knew everything so I showed up 1-1.5 hours late every week and the professor(who was from Germany) did not care. She was pretty cool.

My friend (he's student Rep) had one of our tutors fired because we didn't learn anything. When she was she basically stole our assignments.
Our course tutor (the one that kicked me out) doesn't explain anything properly. He explains what we have to do. We do it. He says we've done it wrong.

You were late and unequipped for class. And you are calling the tutor an idiot? I'm sorry, but the onus is on you and you alone to be prepared. You can make all the excuses you like and rationalize the situation so that it's not your fault; you can play the victim. With that attitude you will not succeed in life. Take ownership and responsibility for your life if you want success. First day of class...I would have asked you to leave too.

The main reason I forgot my pen is because it's an IT class. I eventually got back into the lesson (went to buy a pen) turns out through that entire (rest of the) lesson we didn't need a pen so it was a bit of a waste really :|

Wasn't it Bill Gates that said that he would always employ the laziest people to do the toughest jobs because they'll always find the easiest way to do it?
That's an excuse, not a reason. You'll figure out the difference eventually (and that *was* part of the lesson your tutor was trying to teach you ... bring him an apple for the extra education.
)You can tell a person to do something and you can show a person how to do something, but until you teach them how to do something, they will most likely not be able to do it. Sometimes teaching requires you to follow seemingly unnecessary instructions without explanation or reason until you begin to comprehend that it there may be something more to completing the assignment beyond just completing the assignment. Understanding comes from experience and maturity.

School isn't just for training you to be a different kind of robot.
It's to teach you the effective behaviors of professionals in the chosen field and to enculturate you to eventually pass along the same.
I have never, ever, once in my professional life been without writing instruments and I've done more with computers than you will probably ever hope to do. Maybe that was the point of the lesson that you missed.
I'm sorry if you don't like me being harsh but you were just given the best advice possible on how to not end up like a mindless drone and you blew it off with a cheap excuse.
If you were to tell me this story during an interview, and believe me it's the sort of thing I try to draw out, I would not hire you - and I have hired hundreds of people.

You have to understand WB, a good many of us count our life experiences in terms of decades and not semesters. You simply have the arrogance and naivete of youth. Nothing wrong with that as it's all part of the journey, but part of education is to let you discover responsibility, ethics and confidence along with the course information.
