basically every time my wife sends a picture for any reason it shows up in my thread as if it came through yesterday I get a notification at the top I can pull it down and when I click on it nothing happens if I scroll through my messages I can see the picture but it came through the day before this happens every single time my automatic date and time settings are set does anyone know how to fix this thank you

I should add I have a galaxy s5 and it did this on kit Kat 4.4.4 and now still on lolipop 5.0

There are two time codes in a text message and it's not uncommon for a carrier to screw one up. Known problem in the US and UK. I get it too.

In the past there were a number of helper apps to fix that but they've fallen by the wayside.

Textra, free in the Play Store, isn't fooled.

And you can swipe left inside a message thread - if the timestamps differ, it'll show you both - and automatically use the right one so your threads are in order.

If that's the problem you have, Textra will solve it.

It's a shame I have to download another app to fix it I was hoping to find a way to fix the actual problem without adding more apps

It's a shame that this is probably your carrier's fault (you have to get them to change to fix the problem at the source) and your built-in app can't cope with it.

Sorry my advice sucked for you. I didn't realize that you were out of app space.

Best luck.
