Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

Those are just teaser videos most likely made by HTC would be my guess. I'm sure sprint can and will do better than those heh

Most likely who ever rendered the video didn't put the proper data coding (a lot of production insider bs that would take the rest of the night to explain) and Youtube is presenting the video in the wrong format cause it's being told to squish the video in that player.

A release right before WWDC might be good because advertising will be in high gear.

Before the phones are released to the public, loaner units are shipped to tech blogs and news companies for review. They'll probably have some embargo and at midnight EDT on a specific day, all these sites will post their reviews and impressions (like Engadget, Phonescoop, Phonedog, etc did today at 12:01 AM EDT for the Microsoft Kin and Kin Two). Anyway, this may be a good way to get the word out, just before WWDC and the new iPhone. Then people will immediately compare the EVO 4G to the new iPhone and draw their own conclusions.

That's the end of my speculation.

but what about sprint's 30 day trial thing?

wouldn't it be a pain to have a number ported over to sprint, then you find out sprint's not for you, then you have to port back over to your original carrier and possibly enter into another 2-yr contract?

would be safer for the customer if we can port our number at any time we choose.

The sales rep on the phone just within the last hour said he read in his notes that training was underway now? Weird.

Btw....am I invisible...or boring....or both?
hate to throw in more rumors.

my friend at bestbuy mobile said that he's been reading through training manuals already. basically it's letting all mobile representatives at bestbuy know the specs and functions. etc. etc.

so i questioned why training was set for 6.24. weird

Your best bet is to keep your carrier that you are on now. Do the 30 day trial with sprint, if you like it, then have your number ported.

Different training. The advacate needs to use the phone completely in front of you. If you ask a question, he just can not read off a card, but actaully has to show you how it works.

This is different then reading off specs over a phone.

I have not heard of the training dates, only when the stores where getting the phones.

This is my situation.

I currently own a T-Mobile G1 and my contract expires Sep '10. Since the EVO is coming out in June, I won't wait until September to get it. I don't want to pay for ETF for T-mobile since I only have three more monthly cycles to pay.

What I was thinking is to lower my monthly T-Mobile bill to the cheapest price. $39.99 for 500 mins or so, no internet.

So I will pay about $45.00 in July, August, September. That's $135.00, I don't know how much if the ETF for T-Mobile, but I think it's like $350 or something.

Anyway, my concern is my phone number.

I want to transfer my T-Mobile phone# to Sprint. But I don't know if I can do it after my contract with T-Mobile expires.

Anyone has any idea on the best approach for me?

Thanks in advanced!
They pro-rate your ETF for every month you complete towards the 2 years. You can call T-mobile in June and ask about it. I think your ETF would be no more than $50 maybe less.

Not that I have any real credibility (I just decided to stop lurking finally) but, while its purely just speculation/hope/opinion, an earlier-then-June-6th release in my mind is most likely or at least makes the most sense as it will throw off any attempts by Apple or other competition at stealing attention away from the Evo's launch.

Launching June 6th, for lack of a better way of putting it, would be a bad decision. They need to hook people up with Evo phones before we are told about new (and for all we know, comparable or better) phones that are soon to be released.

Here's to you Sprint, don't let us down.

EDITED: cleaned up my sentence structure a bit ;P

Everyone's a bit different however this might help...

Just in case you don't feel like reading all the way through I copy/pasted the policy for you...

7. Are ETFs prorated so that the customer's liability decreases over time? If
so, what is the exact schedule by which they are prorated?
Response: As stated above, the ETF applies after the initial trial period, and then
declines during the term of a customer

...IDK about this whole internal storage deal though, i know that the prototype models only have 1gb but i was assured that the final version, SP inlcuded, would ship with atleast 8...
Jackson

This one's a deal breaker for me...I hope that they were telling rebella about the 1gb ROM and not internal storage.

What can I say...today's been just a great day of outpouring info!!! And if all holds true and June 6th is the release date, then that makes looking forward to May 12th all that much more exciting!!! If one month is all that separates us from having the HTC EVO then I'm really excited!

They said the official release date will be released in a couple of weeks, at a big event which I assume may be the May 12th event you speak of in NY. We will also hear about it in the weekly playbook soon I think.

sounds like a lot of details were shared with you. how bout possible prices mentioned? on and off contract?
