This phone is 12 weeks old today. All of a sudden the microphone quit working. Is there something that may have been changed in the settings? I am new to the world of phones. When the microphone was working, there was an awful echo on calls, but was fixed by using headphones. Is there a way to fix that? One more question, What is Rooting a phone mean? Would that void a warranty?

Sounds like you should return the phone for warranty replacement or repair.
Rooting gives you administrator permissions on the device rather than regular user permissions. It would not help solve your problem.

Thank you. I was afraid of that. Do you know about how long the turn around time is for repair? They are closed on the weekends, so will have to wait until tomorrow to call them.

I have no way of knowing, sorry. If you got it from a store, they may just swap it out. Or they may send it out for repair.
