Help Touchscreen slowly disentegrating

Aight, so I just got this Galaxy Nexus sch 1515 something or other working (recovered it from a really tough bootloop) and its been working amazing ever since. But ive been noticing that on the password unlock screen either its jusr REALLY slow on that one screen or its the touchscreen but I have to turn my phone on and off again a couple times or wait a little while before I can successfully touch buttons without 5-7 seconds of lagtime
so far its just the home screen. yes, I have tried turning it off and on again.
 
In trying to solve my own touch screen problems I ran across countless solutions that worked for others. One guy suggested that the lag was caused by the cpu going into a "deep sleep" when the screen was off and found an app that kept the cpu from doing that. I can't remember what it was called as it happend a while back, but it might be worth a shot in your case to run it down!

would this cause the batery to run down quicker? because id rather have a longer battery and just have to wait a bit than having a shorter battery life
 
I didn't consider that when I was looking for a solution because all I wanted was for my phone to work, lol, but in theory I imagine it would take up some battery because you aren't letting the cpu go into a deep sleep. How much it chews up I have no idea, but you could always try it and see if it even solves your problem first, and then see how much, if any, battery life it eats up!
