Accessories Emergency / external battery and USB 3.0?

Just wondering if anyone has seen or heard of an external battery that has a USB 3.0 port to charge it up?

As far as I understand it , a USB 3.0 port has the potential to give out more current then a USB 2.0 one so things should charge quicker.

I know you can get chargers and hubs with dedicated USB charging sockets (my HooToo hub has 2, a 1A and a 2.1A) but I am thinking of the situation when you need to charge your external battery, and only have access to a computer. Being able to use the full potential of USB 3.0 would be slightly quicker.

It doesn't matter if it's USB2.0 or USB3.0. You have to look at the microUSB charging port of the battery (the port that actually charges the battery). Most of the batteries accept 1A to 2A input charging, that's how fast you can charge up your external battery where using wall charger with 2A output will yield the fastest charging speed. If you want to charge from your laptop, USB2.0 port will provide you only 0.5A of current and USB3.0 port will provide 0.9A (close to 1A) of current. Thus, it makes more sense to use USB3.0 port for charging of your external battery, but even USB3.0 will be slow especially if you have a high capacity battery.

Bottom line, USB2.0 vs 3.0 compatibility is more for data transfer, while if you are talking about using that port for external battery charging - it will work with ANY battery and USB3.0 will give you faster charging speed vs USB2.0.
