Help Trying to mount an external harddrive to a samsung galaxy S3

Hey, I'm trying to mount a 500gb Silicon Power hard drive to a samsung galaxy S3, but it's turning out to be pretty difficult, the drive is NTFS, so I've tried to use paragon and other applications to get it to mount, it's not detected by any of the applications. Is there something obvious that I'm missing?

Is the drive receiving external power, or is it powered via the S3? The S3 is probably not able to supply enough current to the drive to be able to power it up sufficiently. Also, have a look at this post: External USB Hard Drives dont mount (Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1)

It's not receiving external power, is there any other solution?

In the link I gave they mention the use of a y-cable to get more power. This I have done myself on a PC/Mac but never with a phone, so unfortunately I do not know how this would work with the S3

The drive with NTFS file system can't be read by an Android device. You will need to reformat the drive to FAT32
