How am I to know this ?

My late working hours coupled with stress and asthma attacks driving me nuts so I go ahead and order this air purifier (BF2025) to cope with all this and now I am thinking since I spend nearly 4 hours commuting to and fro to work I want to use this inside my car as well.

Now how am I to figure out whether it can be powered by my car ? Is it possible to use it inside a car ?

How big is it? How much power does it need? Post that info and a better link.

I bought an inverter to charge my tablet. I own one of the few tablets that does not charge via USB.

You haven't shared any information regarding the air purifier. Take a look at the manual and check the power rating and update it here. Air purifiers consume lot of power. I'm not sure how you can use it inside a car. Why don't you specifically look for a car air purifier which is meant to be used inside a car.

I checked it says Power Supply : Input AC 100-240V/50-60 Hz
Output DC 12 V/ 1 A

I found it here on this page http://go-clair.com/collections/clair-bf2025-air-purifier/products/clair-bf2025-air-purifier-mint. Is it the right thing ?

Not sure where you live but if you have a Fry's Electronics near you take it in to them. The A/C adapter for that unit is 12V output, high mode load of 2.4W, so that's really easy. Most car cigarette lighters will support 80W or more, so all you need is the proper adapter that will plug into the Clair and supply a max load of 3W (you can go higher than this, but you pay for what you don't need, sort of like buying a 200+ MPH Lamborghini to drive around in the city in stop and go traffic.)

If no Fry's, then any decent electronics store should be able to set you up. Radio Shack too, for another few weeks anyway. :(

You might also try emailing/calling Clair to ask them if they have a car adapter. I'm sure it would be more expensive that something you could just buy, but then you save yourself that headache and stress when you're already stretched too thin, or so it sounds.

Good luck with your breathing. As a lifelong asthma sufferer, I can appreciate your concerns.

Thanks for the suggestion . I just checked Frys online store and found this one http://www.frys.com/product/7844379?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG . It says output 75 W and isn't very expensive. Will this do ? Can I order this ? I called the Clair guys and they also suggested that I use an inverter .

Its the Clair BF2025 air purifier model .I think I forgot to mention the link or it isn't working. My car already comes with a cabin air filter under the glove compartment but it is not good enough to help me with Asthma. Also I don't want to simply buy an additional one or just a car air purifier because this one is small and compact and if I can use it both inside my car and room then why not ?

You can use the one from Fry's just fine, assuming you have room around the outlet in your car to plug it in, they are fairly large (I could not use that in my car).

I was thinking of a simpler method, since the car and the Clair are both already 12V DC current. Then you could leave the Clair adapter at home.

With the inverter, you will 'll plug that into the cigarette lighter and then plug the power cord from the Clair into it.

Good luck. Please post back and let us know how well it works in the car.

Thanks that's exactly what my colleague suggested yesterday. He just lent me a spare inverter . I had no idea it was as simple as this. I just plugged the inverter into the cigarette lighter port and then the Clair power cord into it and switched the air purifier on and it seems to be working just fine like how it did in my room .

Actually to be honest I've been using the air purifier only since the past 2 weeks in my bedroom just beside my bed and haven't had my late night asthma attacks (touch wood) and thought why not try using it in my car as well .I'll use it for my commute to work next week and keep you updated .
